Skyrim won't start and settings won't change.

Hi,

It's been a while since I have started up Skyrim but when I have tried to play it over the last couple of days I have been getting issues, I have tried re installing drivers and whatnot but can't get it to work, when I open up the settings menu I have this problem.

I can't select a resolution and AA and AF don't seem to exists, when I try to run the game it says I have selected an unsupported resolution however I am unable to change the resolution.

Does anyone know what may be causing this or a possible fix?

delete both your skyrim ini and skyrimprefs ini , they are both found at C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Skyrim also if you go to your root folder of skyrim you will find a folder called skyrim inside of that is anouther skyrim ini file delete that aswell .
Once you have done thoses things start skyrim up as normal .

p.s post back if this helped ...

After doing that, when I open Skyrim it does the whole automatically checking system to work out optimal settings etc... And it puts them on low? Other than that everything is still the same, the settings menu is still screwed up and it won't play the game.

And it shouldn't be an issue with my specs either, they are in my signature but I have had no issues playing on Ultra in the past.

If you go to your Documents -> My Games -> Skyrim folder, there should be a text file in there called "RendererInfo.txt." That lists your card's make/model and some additional information (like how much AA it can handle, etc.). Is what's listed there correct? And can you copy/paste the contents of that file here?

'RendererInfo.txt' is completely empty.
