Graphic issues with Patch 1.5 (huge strange pixelated areas)

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 1:58 pm

Hi! Before patching I had no display problems but with the latest patch in my home in Rifton in the lower part where you can see some mist on the ground huge pixels are floating in it and outside in Rifton parts of walls and the ground look very strange. And a wooden log with meat on it near the market place is blue instead of brown.

I changed a few graphic options but could not fix it yet. I have the latest ATI Drivers (Catalyst 12.3) and an ATI Radeon HD 5570 on Win7 64 Bit.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

I have not noticed this with the patch, are you running any mods?

Sorry, forgot to add mod info.
I have no mods installed, just downloaded the official HD Textures DLC on Steam.

Uncheck those ESPs and see what happens. I don't have them running and I am curious if that is the source of this issue.

I have the same problem as the guy above, same driver with a radeon hd 6850 on windows 7 64 bit and no mods. When I first start the game tells me I can run it on high, and I used to, but now I need to set it to low just so the ground isn't popping in and out of view.

Bad amd drivers. Uninstall your current one and install 12.1.

As for the blue log it's a bug with the hd DLC. There is a mod fix for it on te nexus, no idea what the link is though.

Are you sure you're using 12.3? I don't see a 12.3 preview yet but maybe I'm missing something. If you're using 12.2 I recall AMD saying that version causes graphic corruption that is supposed to be fixed in 12.3. I'd point you to the release notes but the page is no longer working. AMD is really batting 0.00 lately. Your best bet in the meantime is to roll back to 12.1.

12.3 on the listing will show up as 12.2 on your CCC/Afterburner etc. it is basically a preview. Use 12.1 or disable the AA and AF using the current driver.
Here is an AMD download for 12.1: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/previous/12/Pages/radeon.aspx?os=Windows%20Vista%20-%2064-Bit%20Edition&rev=12.1
Here is a fix for the HD texture pack as that bottom purple texture is a result of missing HD textures yet to be fixed by Beth: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=8236

What are "ESPs"? I try to find where I can disable the HD textures but there is nothing in the options of the launcher. And I got a notification about new drivers from the CCC and it downloaded 12.3.

But I found another bug: The mannequins in my house in Rifton are not standing at the right place. They are moved a bit and not standing on the wooden plates on the ground where they should be.

Launcher > Data Files: You should see two HD texture pack files those are ESP's just uncheck them to disable the HD texture pack. It basically works like a mod if you had mods they would appear on that list as well.

Ya it's the newer drivers Ztrekkie just stay away until the release notes say they have fixed the issue. If you have later than 12.1 drivers and have AA and AF ON and have no issues now that would intrigue me.

You could've also just disabled anti-aliasing, and enabled FXAA instead. Works like a charm.

Yep totally an option as well I just prefer to enjoy my cards potential if you are uncomfortable rolling back drivers that is without a doubt an easy fix.
