Delays in NPC "speeches"

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 9:24 am

Looking for help here...

Every time I start a dialog with a NPC I experience really, and I mean REALLY long pauses between their sentences. It'll be like...

Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

4-5 second delay...

Blah, blah blah.

Another 4-5 second wait.

Blah, blah, blah, blah.

Anyone else experiencing anything like this?

Occasionally fall victim to this too - was especially prevalent during the Stormcloak questline.

Yeah, I see this delay too. But I also have the reverse.

The next sentence starts before the last one has finished
being voiced so you're listening to one voice over the top of another.

Really messy. Astrid in the DB Sanctuary did this yesterday.

Thanks Val and Thin.

Anyone else had this happen? Can anything be done to fix it?

I've noticed this as well, after the 1.4 update, but I removed some script heavy mods and now the issue only comes up very rarely now. My pauses in dialog/rewards/quest updates ranged from 10-30 seconds

Iriodus good to finally see someone that has my soundcard on these boards? Do you notice the low sound issue in contrast to other applications?

I haven't personally had the Low Sound issue, mind you, I play with my volume at 100% (Previously at 50% with Smart Volume Normalization, and I use headphones). Just dialed back to 50%, no enhancements turned on, and sound is at an acceptable level. I can hear everything ok, but may need to turn up the environment sounds just a tad bit.
Quick Edit: I also have turned off in-game music.

It's overall for me I use speakers I just turn them up....far from a game breaker just curious. If you can you mind taking a screenshot or two of your asus sound card controller settings?

With these settings I have no real sound problems, however, they are not the default settings like I intended after 1.4 went live. My "HP Advance setting" was on "Pro-gaming mode", I just adjusted it back to default. Will test again after I revert to driver defaults (Minus All enhancements), as I am now curious to see if I'll encounter the low sound issue.

Ok, after putting my sound settings back to their defaults my sound in Skyrim is defiantly low across the board, and this is with volume set to a reasonable level (50%). All in game sound settings, save music, are at max. Edit: I also apologize for the Threadjacking.
