SPOILER Question (Ulfric)

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 3:27 am

Did Ulfric really killed the High King with his Voice? If that is so, then is there a possibility that Ulfric is our character's father?

I'm only 20 hours into the game, but I've already heard many trustable Whiterun Guards saying something like "Ulfric killed the High King by shouting him into pieces". I was totally shocked when I read Book of the Dragonborn which says there can be more than 1 Dragonborns at a time, one being a father and other being his sons? Are we related at all?

Not all Dragonborn are related. There's no indication, for example, that Tiber Septim was related to Reman Cyrodiil, or the Dovahkiin to the Septims. Nor does one have to be Dragonborn to use the Thu'um; the dragon blood merely allows you to master a Thu'um much faster.

Haha I just imagined Ulfric having Argonians children ...

Thuum can be taught. The Greybeards aren't Dragonborns, yet they can shout. And I am pretty sure I saw a line somewhere mentioning he had been taught by them.

No Ulfric says every Nord can go High Hrothgar and study the way of the voice with the Greybeards ,anyone from any race can shout if they learn how.

Oh, okay, thank you for all your answers.
I thought I'd have to join the Stormcloak for sure because I don't want to kill my own father, lol. It'd be so screwed up to kill your own father like what http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_McAvoy did in the Movie http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wanted_%282008_film%29.

All Races do share the same reproductive organs, don't they? Wouldn't that be possible?
I've never played The Elder Scrolls Series before so all these weird Races are still new to me. Coming from simple Games like World of Warcraft & Dragon Age, I naturally just ignore those Races and pretend they are human wearing fancy masks, lol. They do give me the creep from time to time though.

Random question. Why do you make all your nouns blue and link your references?

in which chain did you talk to him and what did he say about learning the voice? I was hoping there was still a college in Markarth but after looking on wiki and in game, it's obviously a very old reference in the book because there's not even a building where the college would have been. (City of Stone)

From what I've found High Hrothgar is the only place to learn and study the way of the voice and pretty clearly the gents aren't entertaining many of the pilgrims who climb the 7000 steps to the front gates.

Entirely off-topic, but dude... Seriously? No.

Basic Biology 101: Similar does not mean the same. IRL, apes and pigs share ninety-five to ninety-eight (forgot which) percent chromosomes with humans, and all mammals have very similar sixual organs. That said, they can't reproduce together.

That aside, Skyrim starts out with you about to get executed to give your character a clean slate; no backstory, nothing, you decide that. 'Sides, Ulfric doesn't look old enough to have children in his twenties, let alone older.

if you speak to ulfric he explains he did NOT kill the king with his thu'um, thats just the bards dramatising it. He did use the thu'um, but finished him with his sword.

Many designs of key can fit into similar locks, it doesn't mean that it'll actually open the door... if you get my meaning

I was very curious of this as well. I had a conversation recently with Ulfric (since I had progressed the main story line) and he said something about using his blade to stab him. He said something about the fact that he was right next to him, and with all the turmoil that was happening, nobody had noticed, and they had all thought he killed him with his voice. That's what I got out of it anyway. I would really like to know for sure though.

Same reason I do it sometimes. The blue text shows up well on this forum, and it's a way of highlighting certain points

Actually thats not quite accurate for TES. Men and Mer can reproduce. Khajiit are suspected to be an offshoot of Mer and it may be possible. In http://www.imperial-library.info/content/daggerfall-real-barenziah-part-4(Warning: This books a little...ergh), Katisha warns Barenziah that if she keeps company with khajiit she may find herself pregnant soon enough. Argonians are a wildcard, but http://www.imperial-library.info/content/oblivion-vitharn-fall you find in SI states that a high elf had a son with an argonian. Since that could just be the realm being its normal crazy self, can't confirm anything there.

There's also http://www.imperial-library.info/content/skyrim-racial-phylogeny. TES biology is weird.

Anyways. Ulfric didn't shout torygg to pieces. He Fus Ro Dahed him and then stabbed him in the heart while he was thrown off.

Yeah that would be some seriously original storyboarding.
