1.5 Grass Shadows, Where?

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 8:59 am

I am supposed to see shadows on grass, i dont see them... how do i turn them on? like if its not there.

Also i have a terrible FPS drops and massive lag, i went from v1.4 patch 55 fps out doors to v1.5 patch 31 fps and sometimes i hit a constant 22fps... i like most changes to the gameplay i just cant stand super choppy performace.

AMD PhenomII x4 810 (3.1Ghz OC)
HD5770 1Gb
6Gb DDR3
1280x1024
Settings Ultra High

Everything is nice and smooth if i go back to 1.4, like i said before i hit a constant 55FPS and when i update to 1.5 bam! horriple performance... even tried to let 1.5 rebuild my Ini files and i just got like 4 extra fps, anyway i dont know why shadows are invisible... do i need to turn them on? if so how?

What 'shadows on gras' meant is that shadows from other things (trees, rocks, the player) can be cast on grass. Not that grass casts its own shadow. Previously, grass looked equally bright in and outside of shadows.

Ironically, grass casting its own shadow using ambient occlusion stopped working at the same time.

So now other things can cast shadows on grass, but grass doesn't cast shadows any more.

So grass did actually casted shadows on nVidia Cards before? damn... getting tired of horrible AMD drivers... i noticed that some drivers prior to 12.1 cause framerate to drop considerably and when alt tabbing it restored the issue for a while, while newer drivers have lost a few FPS but are more stable.

Only when enabling AO. Which I tend to keep disabled because I like being able to play the game on my card, haha.
