Skyrim seems broken (since patch 1.5)

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 5:52 pm

So I recently updated skyrim to 1.5 and had issues with wetriggerscript causing a CTD upon load and when starting new games.

So i uninstalled steam and skyrim completely, deleted my games/skyrim folder, deleted steamapps/common/skyrim, reinstalled skyrim and steam and attempted to start a new game or load an old one again. Again i had wetriggerscript errors
Spoiler
1. "{wetriggerscript< (01099883)>]WARNING: OnInit()myHoldLocation property has not been set, this will result in errors" , same with code 010d13ea , again with 01099887
so I cleared game files/reinstalled another 5 or 6 times and the same issues occured, sometimes i just would have CTD without the wetriggerscript error and sometimes skyrim would not load at all..

one time I was able to have skyrim start a new game, although there were some major graphical issues, little transparent squares were pervasive throughout like little buggy snow particles. I reinstalled again. This is where I am now.

I am using no mods on these fresh installations and the HD DLC from steam. I just want to get the game working again.

Here's my dxdiag, maybe someone can tell me why my system or my skyrim is broken.

Update

With enough reinstalls I've successfully been able to install the game and access a new game. The problem I am having now is the same graphical problem I spoke of before. There are these transparent squares that fill up the screen and bleed through landscape and buildings alike. It seems like they reside somewhere from the clouds, as if they are anchored there and bleed through all that come between their location and my line of sight. This is no little problem to the eyes, it is quite annoying and hampers the gameplay. Anyone know how to fix this?

Bad graphics drivers. Uninstall your current AMD driver completely, reboot, and install the latest official 12.3 driver.

I was just reading a post from the sixth where you said this. I am using the newest 12.3 driver. I will attempt to re-install the driver now and see if that helps.

It has been a problem for a while, even 12.2 states you have 12.3.

Updating drivers doesn't fix it, it has to be a clean install.

Also, just a note, since you're on a 32-bit OS you may have problems down the line with your available memory running out when using the DLC.

Just thought I'd mention it to help shed some light on possible future issues you may get.

Yerp try turning the DLC off it is in the Data Files in the launcher. 32 bit OS doesn't behave well with it.

From your original post: "Windows Vista? Home Premium"

That's the 32-bit version of Vista. It'd say 64-bit otherwise.
