How can i restart a quest?

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 10:54 pm

Hi,

I started an escaped prisoner quest with the compagnion vilkas.
When i got out of whiterun, the pointer showed back in, and when i got in the pointyer showed out again, etc etc.
The prisoner must have fled into a wooden door, because when i restarted from an earlier save, there was no way to start before the quest begun, or i had to go too far back, and loose many days.
Every save started where the quest already had begun, but the prisoner would not show up anymore.
Now i can not get another quest here, because they already given me one.

My question:

How can i reset such a quest, and start again?

Found this on UESP

The hostage may be at their village/town instead of the area the quest says to go to.
  • This might be resolved by entering their home, then leaving immediately.

Unfortunately this did not work.
I thought there was some kind of console command to re-initiate the quest..

I know there has to be a console command to complete it and since it is radiant that isn't the worst thing I guess but as far as I know you can't reset radiant quests that are stuck only clear them. I don't really have much console experience but they are all listed in the Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages.

On uesp i found following:

Escaped Criminal (CR07)

On the PC, it is possible to use the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Console to advance through the quest by entering setstage CR07 stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the quest using resetquest CR07.

This worked: the entrance was removed from the active quests list/page.
