Serious issues with save game bloating and script lags

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 7:41 pm

hi guys.

im this close to juping of my window (which is rather high above the road below) after running into walls and banging my head against heavy phone books yielded no better results.

there is an issue that is driving me absolutely mad:

im running 1.5.24 and using only two mods that uses papyrus scripts: "Deadly combat" and "the dance of death" but i assume that if i can get the game to work well i will try other papyrus based mods too.

after some game time i get scripts issues - things dont function properly. the deadly combat (=DC mod) should make PC and NPCs stagger with every hit and well timed block. it's a mods that relies on performing the scripts just in time or it loses it's point. when i play for a while i get script lags. hits on NPCs dont result in them staggering, timed blocks dont result in recoiling enemies and other oddities.
to top that, i am having constant tiny freezes in gameplay. the freezing get bigger and longer and my save games are getting larger and larger.
now i can no longer play. freezing is frequent. save game has grown 4 or 5 MBs in the last hour of gameplay (according to the save game timer) and the DC mod's scripts barely function on time.

here is another oddity with the DC mod: it give the player automatically a new magic which is the UI for the mod. sometimes i uninstall the mod. save a clean save and then load the mod again in NMM and start the game yet the new magic and the scripts of the mod dont appear. i dont get the magic and the mod's functionality doesnt appear fully.
what da eff?

thing is - i tried starting a new character and when that ddidnt work i tried uninstalling the entire game along with NMM.
then i reinstalled. no mods yet. i played with my last saved game for a few minutes. then saved a nice clean save. at least so i thought. dont know what got stuck into my save file but i really dont want to start a new character AGAIN because of this issue.
after the clean save i installed mods again and played. i hoped that the new installation of skyrim will rid me of these issues but it hasnt.
before i jump off the window because i can no longer play this game no matter how many times i start a new character i will ask:

1) are the save game bloating has anything to do with the script lagging or are these issues not connected?

2) amgepo, the creator of the "possessive corpses" mod thinks it might have something to do with the arrows getting stuck in things. that something might have changed in 1.5 update. he suggested i try iProjectileMaxRefCount 0 in the console.
because of this suggestion i wonder if either one of these mods might be responsible for my issues:
arrows in the everywhere: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=11165
the ini tweaks made by the "the dance of death" mod:
[VATS]
fVATSCastingAfterKillDelay=1.2000
uVATSRangedPercentSneak=100
uVATSRangedPercentGlobal=100
bVATSIgnoreProjectileTest=0
bVATSAllowNoKill=0
bVATSMultipleCombatants=1
bVATSForceRanged=1

is it possible that the new ranged kill moves are doing this to my game? or the mod that makes more arrows stuck into things?

3) is there something i can do to STOP the save bloating and get the scripts from DC mod to just work fluently without the mod start malfunctioning after a while?!

i really need help. the DC mod's creator as well as ampego couldnt help me. there were remarkably nice and really tried. many respects to them. but im still having issues. i need more eyes on this case. i dont want to drop skyrim and i won't play without the DC mod since the game isnt much fun without it to me.

thanks and i will take any help i can get.

Read over this thread I started a short time ago. Amgepo offered some good insight within.
You'll also see, unfortunately, there are many of us suffering this intolerable headache.

Please jump in, add thoughts, compare, revive this thread a bit.
You'll notice I too was forced to restart a character while attempting to prevent a reoccurrence of the bloated save
