weird shadows behaviour

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 9:43 pm

Hi

I have searched countless times on internet how to solve the issue and it seemed to be fixed for awhile but now the problem is back. The shadows look too weird and behave weird. Stripes/lines on the wall, blocky jittery shadows of npc's on the ground, and generally the ugly feel of shadows.

How do I fix it?

Thanks

Sorry, forgot to do it.

Win 7 64-bit
Dual Core Duo (E8200 2.66GHz)
4GB RAM
Geforce GTX 285 (driver version 8.17.12.9573)

my mods: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10484650/skyrim_mods.png
(as you see from my mod list, I run HD textures, but I doubt it causes the shadow problem)

geez you have alot of mods lol

have you tried unchecking the shadows and the HD textures then retesting?

and why are you useing those HD's? not using the official ones?

if that doesnt work best method until a brainbox appears is to check them all off and see if its gone if it hasnt you've got something else on your game causing it.

if it has then check on 2-3 at a time and retest.

This issue is known by Bethesda and supposedly is a priority fix next release. I'll believe it when I see it. 20 emails to tech support and the best I got was cut and paste responses. Another poster actually called and got the word that they are working on a fix.

Yeah the shadow glitches are quite bad for me, when my character walks it's like strobe-lights in a disco that I think Skyrim is just a big rave. Now my character wears those Forsworn antler-hats and uses a staff as a pogo stick to get into the rave-party mood.

The best thing is probably to turn shadows off altogether, since I don't really want to revert to a previous patch due to using the improved Skyrim UI and SSE (the script extender always needs the latest version).

Glad to hear they are trying to fix it. Shadow stripes on stones and whatnot has really been an issue from the beginning.

I saved the previous SSE just for that purpose. I have all of them in their original zip folders.
