CompanionLydia Bug?

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 11:11 pm

I have been having a problem with companions for a couple weeks now.

So, I had Lydia as a companion, however she was killed in a fight, and now I can't acquire a new companion. Merc's say "you already have a companion," or whatever it is that they say. I have tried several different console commands to summon Lydia to me, port myself to her, and I even tried "setstage" command to see if it might reset the the quest and re-spawn Lydia in Dragonsreach. Alas none of this has worked, and nobody wants to be my friend, even for money. :(

Commands I have tried:

player.placeatme a2c94
setstage favor253
a2c94.moveto player
player.moveto a2c94

I have also tried these with the other ID listed on UESPwiki "92c83."

Anybody have any clues how to either re-spawn Lydia, or fix the problem I am having with acquiring a new companion?

It doesn't look as though I have. Could you provide the code for please? :icecream:

By the way, she was killed weeks ago (real time) in game probably months, her body is likely gone.....

Do you have a house? Doesn't she respawn there or in the keep, if a house has not yet been purchased. Though, I've never had her killed, I remember reading somewhere that she couldn't actually die.

I bought the whiterun house quite a while after she was killed, and I have looked in the keep and she is not there either.

If you remember exactly where she died go there and then try . . .

a2c94.resurrect

If you can't remember then try that code and then wait a cycle or two and then go inside Dragonsreach where she goes when she's dismissed.

EDIT: Here's where I found that info when I sacrificed her once and wanted to bring her back. The a2c94.resurrect worked for me.

aRe you doing any of the Companion's quests that involves taking one of them with you as a follower? Because they count as a companion, even if it is just Farkas
Spoiler
hanging around Dustman's Cairn to get the first Shard of Wuuthrad
It took me a couple of hours to realize this, so try that.

Console command doesn't work for some reason. I get a "syntax" error of some sort. I get errors while trying the other commands as well. I can post some screens of the errors if that might help?

@ Daryn

I am pretty sure I do not have any quest companions. The last companion type quest I did (pretty sure anyway) was some vampire chick who wanted me to snack on a priest from Markarth, which I have completed.

Hmm, that's odd, I dunno. As soon as I viewed that video I went straight in and slapped that robe on my wife, Muiri. Then I tried it on Lydia as well. I had dismissed her a while ago, but she still holds a candle for me and is always waiting just inside the door of Dragonsreach. All I did was write down the code from that video and then tried it myself on them . . .

"equipitem 0008952"

Just like the video, don't add any dots or anything, just the equipitem then a space then the number.

EDIT: Be sure and click on her first with your cursor, then type in the code, then press enter, then exit with the Tilde key.

No, not the robe command, the resurrect command, should have probably been more clear about that....

As Waen already said "A2C94.resurrect" is the correct command. It's the equivalent of clicking on her dead body and just typing "resurrect".

If it doesnt work you could try spawning a new copy of her with "player.placeatme a2c8e".
Make sure you save before you do that though. These clones sometimes behave strangely, but since Lydia isnt really a questgiver it's worth a try.

Instead of mindless bumping how about you post in the right forum instead, there is a bug forum.

I mean seriously why is this forum in general filled with posts that belong in other forums, is it really that hard to find out where to post?

Well my Lydia had died too, and I forgot about her.. Until I got married, and her dead body flew down. So if you're trying to find her, you could get married.. She'll probablyshow up, dead or alive.

If the moderators feel this belongs in another forum, they are welcome to move it, you can take your BS attitude somewhere else. I have been around these forums for about 8 years now, I don't need you to teach me the ropes. This will be the last time I respond to you.

@ReapReacher

Haha, perhaps I will try that. Thanks for the suggestion.

Are you sure she died or did you tell her to wait somewhere and forget to have her follow again? As the stealthy type I would always have her wait back a bit when I got to the end dungeon guy/gal then use stealth on one of the characters and bring the rest back to Lydia. I kept finding myself forgetting to have her follow again and would have to run back to the dungeon and get her.

I've stopped bringing companions after about the 4th time this happened. So she might be standing in some dungeon like an idiot if you told her to wait.
