how to dehostile an npc

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 1:40 am

upon entering Solitude, Jaree-ra attacks me. Of course none of the guards try to help and since he's essential I can't kill him. Console code?
Oh and is there one to clean up my character? When I was poor and penniless at the beginning I thought it would be cool to have some dirt on me, but no amount of swimming will clean me.

But yeah, how to dehostile Jaree-ra?

Try opening the console, clicking on Jaree-ra, and then typing "resetAI" minus quotes. Or you could wait three days. That should calm him down.

showracemenu will bring up the screen that you used to create your character in the first place, which will allow you to edit their appearance.

From the UESP:

Note: Using this command to alter one's race will reset skills and health/magicka/stamina to default levels. This command can be safely used to alter a character's appearance without causing any unwanted side-effects as long as race is not changed. However, it should be noted that upon completing your changes and choosing a name for your character, all temporary active effects (such as Gift of Charity or shrine blessings) will be removed. Racial resistances will no longer be listed in Active Effects until the game is loaded from the main menu, at which time racial resistances will be automatically reapplied. Permanent active effects such as those from guardian stones or perks will not be lost. Active effects granted from enchanted items will not be listed until the items are re-equipped.

I'm having a similar problem, NPCs, usually storeowners, are just randomly attacking me when I enter buildings. I'd done both the CCs & Waiting to get stop it, but none of it works. I got some mods from the Workshop before this started, so I deactivated them to see if that worked. Failed, so I outright deleted them, still didn't work. I really don't want to have to restart from stratch like I had to do several times with Oblivion. :(

De-hostile an NPC you say? Why, revoke his immortality from him and kill him I say!
