ok, i tried both one-handed and two-handed melee combat and now plan to make a noble man character, most likely breton or imperial, but i need to know: which weaponstyle and armor as well would work best?
I'm not sure what you're envisioning as a "noble man", but assuming you're going for feudal lord/ knight, 1h + shield or 2h would both work. If you're planning on smithing and enchanting yourself into a mitigation-capped set of customized armor (which would be appropriate for a wealthy professional warrior), I'd recommend a 2h, since much of the benefit of using of a shield becomes irrelevant once you're armor capped. However, if you don't want to craft, 1h + Shield can work nicely.
I'd strongly recommend Breton over Imperial, since the 25% passive Magic Resistance is arguably the best racial ability in the game. Combine that with the Lord's Stone (also appropriate for a noble man), and you're already sitting at 50% magic resistance.
