I picked up the book Chimarvamidium in some dungeon or other and it is marked as a quest object. What quest do I have to do to get rid of the stupid thing? (Yeah, I know I can use a console cheat to remove it, but I'd rather not mess up a quest I need to do later.)

The only one I can think of off the top of my head would be for the librarian at the mages college.

You can't complete it one way or another without using console. Go to the College, get the quest from the Orc in the library. The book you have won't work, and others you pick up won't work either, but will also stack as quest items. You need to manually advance the stage until Beth fixes it.

Thanks. I'll just get rid of it then, since I'm not planning to actually advance in the Mage's Guild Questline.
