Every couple minutes FPS drops to 1?

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 10:45 pm

OK, so basically the titlee explains it... I can run it on any graphics settings at high fps, and every couple minutes it drops to 1 fps for ~ 30 sec - 1 minute... This happens no matter what I change in the graphics settings, can anyone help?
I haven't seen any threads on this issue, so I hope someone knows what I'm talking about.

Here's some basic info, if it helps...

Processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU P8700 @ 2.53GHz 2.53 GHz

RAM: 6.00 GB

OS: Windows 7 64-bit

It's an ASUS Notebook G72GX Series.

I would guess it's because some background software interrupting the game, like an antivirus program or whatever. Just make sure you're not running any other programs that want a relatively large chunk of the CPU now and then.

I have a similar problem. Exactly every 60 seconds, regardless of what is going on in the game, Skyrim will freeze for 1.5 seconds (I've timed this with a stopwatch.) This didn't happen a few months ago. It doesn't happen with other games. I'm not sure exactly when it began.
I have an SLI GTX 460 system with an i5 2500K CPU at 4.3 GHz.
It occurs precisely every 60 seconds and it only happens in Skyrim. I'm using the latest 301.24 drivers from nVidia.

Most likely save game bloating or something related to it. This seems to be happening alot with the latest patch. Lookie here:

Try searching for topics about this here on or the Nexus. You'll find alot more. I am plagued by this myself and nobody seems to be able to solve it.

That is the one thing I didn't think of when trying to troubleshoot this issue. I started a new game and the 60 second stutter doesn't happen.

Thanks! At least I don't have to keep fishing through different drivers, settings and mods to see what's going on any more. Guess I'll just have to abandon my highly leveled characters for a whlie. Until this gets fixed.
