"Skyrim does not run anymore"

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 3:13 pm

Everytime I click on "Play" in the launcher, there appears a small window in the upper left corner and a few seconds later I get the Error : "Skyrim does not run anymore".
I reinstalled it many times, searched for errors in steam, deactivated Anti - Virus Software etc. The error occures since I downloaded the newest AMD driver. Before that I had strange graphic issues.
I don't know what to do and I beg for help :(

I have the same problem!
Have played this game for many hours in the past but today it fails to load.
The title screen loads OK and regardless of what settings I chose in the Options menu, when I click play I get a Windows message saying 'Skyrim has stopped working correctly.'
The application error log shows an Application Error: 'Faulting application name: TESV.exe, version: 1.5.26.0 ......'

I'm running Windows 7 x64 with an AMD ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series Card. Was running CCC 12.3 and rolled back to 12.1 but it made no difference.
I have verified the integrity of the Skyrim game files through Steam.

Can anyone offer any advice other than the standard 'Try a re-install.' ?

TIA

load up steam , go to the library tab and on the left hand side right click on skyrim game and then go down to properties once you have clicked on that a window will come up with diffrent tabs on it click on local file tab then select the option verify integrity of game cache

this will cheak all skyrim files to make sure none of them are corupted or defragmented witch would cause the game not to start ..

so in sort its steam / library / right click skyrim / properties / local file tab / verify integrity of game files .

Fixed my issue :)

When uninstalling the AMD/ATI software in order go back to the Catalyst 12.3 video driver (to play Rage) I noticed that even though it said it would uninstall all AMD software it did not uninstall the AMD Catalyst Application Profiles.

I uninstalled these (had to try twice as I got a BSOD 1st time) then went back to CCC 12.3 (without the AMD Catalyst Application Profiles) and now it runs fine again.

Still not sure as to why it went wrong in the first place.

So all I can suggest Rajusa is that you do as I did, making sure that all AMD software is uninstalled, reboot, then re-download and install the 12.3 driver again.

Are you getting an error in your windows application log?
