Missing Activation Key

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 3:14 pm

Hey guys. I've recently bought a retail version of Skyrim on PC after some of the "oversights" in the Vanilla version bugged me too much and I decided I needed to mod them. I ran the setup.exe, and logged into my Steam account. It requested the Activation Key (pretty normal I thought), but I couldn't find one anywhere. Not in/on the box, in the manual, or even on the disc.

I've emailed supportuk@gamesas.com about the issue, but I'm really worried they won't believe the purchase to be genuine. I've quoted them the ISBN, and the print code on the manual. Plus said where and when I purchased the game. My Steam account even has Morrowind and Oblivion bought on it (I stupidly bought on Steam not understanding the nature of Script Extenders, I've now got discs). It's quite clear I'm no pirate.

I'm hoping they'll believe me and help, however, I was wondering if anyone here knew of anything else I could do? Or maybe someone else to contact to get a quicker service? It's killing me not being able to play.

Thanks for any help.

What platform did you have the game on before?

As to no key, it may be just as easy and quicker to go to the store you bought it from, take your receipt (Which is always the best proof you purchased the game) and explain the situation to them, they should be able to do a straight exchange for one that has a key, and get them to open the case and show you the key before you leave.

PS:Script extenders work fine with the Steam versions. Valve worked with the SE teams to ensure compatibility.

I had the game for PS3. I wanted to make sure I liked it enough to get it on PC (as you can't trade in PC titles). The problem I've got is that I bought the game on holiday (over 100 miles away). I'm going to contact them via telephone today, but I'm not sure what they can do. I've stupidly lost the reciept in the holiday madness, but I do have proof of purchase to the sum of £21.50 to that store with my online banking (I payed with card). Alas, the ncost of fuel to get there is more than just buying the game again. It was from a GAME store, so maybe a more local store would be able to help?

As for the Script Extenders, it was having to disable and renable to Steam ingame UI when swapping between Morrowind and Oblivion that bugged me. It was easier to just get physical copies and swap between them without having to change settings every time.
