Non-circle companions all turned hostile

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 1:24 am

I just came back to jarvaskyr or however you write it (I'm the harbinger), and all the non circle, recruitable members of the companions attack me on sight and refuse to yield. No amount of waiting/resting/avoiding yielding will get them to stop... any ideas? I even tried respawning them and they respawn hostile to

There's a whole bunch've stuff that COULD have set them off, but.. I dunno if that's actually it

- I ran into a couple fighting a mammoth while I was in werewolf form and they attacked me. Though I changed back in front of them and yielded and they seemed to be ok with that, putting away their weapons and laughing about my nudity. Even going so far as to offer me combat training and Aela who was also there turned in a quest. So all seemed well on that occasion.

- I just came back from an absolute massacre in Solitude with about 11 guards killed. (Falk Firebeard sent me an urgent missive to travel to the blue palace. Was a trap though the guards just wanted to kill me!), I don't see why the companions would hate me for being hated by solitude authorities though.

- I did transform in front of Aela once and she attacked me (How could you NOT know I was a werewolf dummy!), but she also accepted my yield. But Aela is one of the few companions who is still friendly to me.

...oh well, you know what they say. You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain

That Solitude letter was not a trap. You must have had a crazy bounty with Solitude at the time.

I had a bounty though not crazy - the only crazy thing was the guard who came at my face with an axe in the middle of town. And when the court of solitude sends a courier into the frozen wastes of winterhold to deliver a letter to you in person demanding your immediate assistance in a matter of national security, you'd think a detail like that might get put aside for a moment. ;)

But that's besides the point... is it likely the solitude hositility is associated with the companions being hostile or just co-incidence?

I see what you did there... ;p

Update:

Ok, now this is getting really bad. I came back from another assignment in solitude and again i had to kill another guard (They tried to kill my hostage I was escorting!) now ALL the companions including the inner circle are hostile to me. I really need a solution besides killing them; i like the companions, they're easily my favourite faction. So why are they turning hostile? :(

(I guess i could just turn Aela into a thrall and prop her up in the corner of jorvaskr but it wouldn't be the same xDDD)

If I'm a vampire it'd be a miracle as I'm also a werewolf (The best rash decision of my character's career)

I had a high bounty in Solitude and the gurads would attack on sight "in" the city. So I approached from the stables out side and they arrested me and allowed me to pay the fine. Now we are all friends !!

Argh... eventually I got them to stop attacking me by running up to them and mashing talk. And now I have a new problem... Skjor - yes, Skjor (He was dead, killed by the silver hand in a cut scene no less. We're talking Aerith-grade dead!!!!) keeps following me around whiterun with his sword drawn interuppting me and starting dialogue every 5 seconds. The other companions do the same if i go inside jorrvaskyr but Skjor is following me around outside

Companions.... faction... is... so... BROKEN! >.<

C'mon guys there has to be a solution besides an arrow in the face. I like these guys and i like their repeatables...

It is a major flaw of the game that members of a group of werewolves that you're not only a member of, but who were directly responsible for making you one, would then get mad at you for being a werewolf. Huh???

I ran into a problem like this just as I was joining the companions. I made an error which caused some companions to become hostile to me. I escaped and traveled to Markarth where all guards promptly attacked me. So, something about triggering hostility with a companion can make guards in other cities auto-hostile.

I finally figured it out.

The companions count as guards belonging to obscure locales like solitude!. I travelled just fine with Vilkas, the moment we reached Solitude, he kept running up to me with his weapon drawn starting conversation like the other NPCs... I was trying to figure out why he suddenly started doing this. Then one of the guards ran up to me weapon drawn an initiated... and it clicked. HE THUINKS HE IS A GUARD. So he tries to arrest me, but his dialogue doesn't have the relevant options, so when i exit dialogue he re-attempts an "arrest"

How do we set an NPC's "responsibility" like in oblivion. If we knew that we could make the companions irresponsible enough that they not try and arrest me for crimes...

If it's humanly possible... it's gotten even worse

Seriously!

Vilkas asked me to take him dragon slaying, he kept pestering me trying to turn me in but being a not-a-guard he doesn't have the right dialogue for it. I kept running away ahead of him so he couldn't pester me as much.. .the sacrifices we have to make being what they are. Anyway, I decided I'd turn into a werewolf in one of the few areas they don't have a warrant for my arrest in by this stage.

Vilkas: "WEREWOLF!"
<1000 gold added to whiterun bounty>
Me: "Uh... Vilkas, you know I'm a werewolf, we're both werewolves"
Vilkas: "DIE FOUL BEAST"
Me: "..."

Well in my normal game turning into a werewolf with the companions around doesn't elicit a hostile response. Have you considered traveling alone and paying off bounties where ever you have then and see if that helps?

Paying them off wouldn't be "in character" with the game. The original bounty wasn't even a crime, I was set up by the corrupt local guards who immediatly tried to kill me, I'm happy to play a fugitive from a corrupt land, it's just how the companions are set up erroneously to use guard AI that is the problem.

Yeah, the werewolf thing is really broken. It's too comical, right after we talk about what it means being a werewolf and you transform, it's like every previous events never happened.

I don't think they're categorized as Solitude guards. To check your theory (and to play with my new shout) I just slaughtered a fair portion of the law there, and then headed back to Jorrvaskr. Everybody is still like "what's up bro" even though I now have a 7120 gold bounty in Haafingar. Hell, Aela even asked me for advice.

Well, they definatly think they're guards in my game =p

Always trying to "arrest" me. If I try fast travel when they are running after me it comes up "you cannot fast travel while guards are chasing you" or something to that effect

Do you have bounties anywhere else, like Whiterun?

Asdfdfaf!!!!1111

...I finally reached the "dragon", vilkas wants me to kill... and it's already dead. So now I'm stuck with numb-nuts following me everywhere interupting me every 5 seconds to ask me if I want 2 handed training... has anyone got a creative suggestions of WHERE I SHOULD DUMP HIS BODY?

Solitude, Markarth, Windhelm - they started doing it before Windhelm, and after Markarth.
