1.5 underwater issue

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 8:40 am

Alright, I'm not sure if this part of the update, but if it, then Bethesda hates water more than I thought. After installing the beta version of 1.5, when I go underwater it's even murkier than before and it's impossible to see any chests or anything, when I could see skeletons, pieces of wood, chests, and weeds before. Water has always been terrible since Oblivion but this is the worst it's been. Is this just a bug, or was increased water density supposed to be an added feature in the patch?

Are you using any ENB or Depth of Field mods? If so, disable them until they are updated to work with 1.5.

I have exactly the opposite. All the "fog" has gone underwater and I can see as clearly as if I was on the surface. It's pretty unrealistic.

I'll try to disable some mods and tweak the ini files to see if I can fix the problem.

RWT is the culprit.

Download the latest mod, Water (link on the RWT page on nexus), use that instead, and download the optional ESP for 1.5 patch fix.

Thank you very much kind sir.

I'll do that as soon as I get home.

Here :) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=13268

Fully uninstall RWT, install the new mod, then install the 1.5 fix for it :)

I disabled enb with shift f12, and tried ENB with DoF disable, however underwater is still opaque....

Try removing the d3d9.dll file from your install directory, obviously this will mean ENB will not work but your underwater view will look okay. The issue is with the .dll file being present.

I am having similar problems undewater. I can't see anything and the screen is gray. There's also been some strange shadows appearing from all different directions when I'm on land, even at night. I didn't see any file name "d3d9.dll" appearing in the game folders (Steam/SteamApps/common/skyrim). I have a dual nVidia 8800's with SLI, but the game was working just fine until about a week ago. What do I need to do to fix?

How do I access my install directory to delete the mentioned file? I don't even know what ENB is, but I don't use graphical mods because my performance is already bad enough.

Underwater seems to be working fine for me, but I noticed a new issue where my character doesn't seem to be using the correct backwards swimming animation. I'm getting a backwards swimming animation that is identical to the forward swimming animation only that it's in reverse. I don't think that was happening before, and I don't think any of the mods I'm using should be causing any animation issues like this.

IF you don't use mods you don't have it.

I mean that file shouldn't exist if you don't use an ENB.
If it was to exist for some reason it would be in your Skyrim Folder which is located by default in Steam/Steamapps/Common/Skyrim

Well since the file doesn't exist, then that shouldn't be the problem, but what is the problem?

I also have the same issue:

1.5.0.24
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VrwbU7Kdxw

1.5.0.26
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FO5qCazAxcg

I was using a water mod, but even after removing the esp and the bsa the issue persists...

No that's not the same problem. You can actually see sort of in the water in that vid but for me it's pitch dark brown, you can't see the bottom of the water or anything.

You can see a rock in the water but for me the rock would be practically invisible because it's so dark.
