Hi guys, when i first got skyrim it ran fine on high settings and now when i play it, it will be fine for a while and then all of a sudden it kinda lags for a while and then back to normal again. Any suggestions for a fix? has this happened to anyone else?

Hardware:
Alienware m15x (laptop)
CPU: i7 M 620
Card: GeForce GTX 260M
RAM: 4GB

Just to get more information, does it do it on a set schedule like every 4 minutes or something? Or is it irregular?

i just tested for three consecutive 'lag times.' I would say each one happens about one minute between each other and for a duration of about 1minute 30 seconds, give or take 10 to 15 seconds. Could it be from the new patch?? So yeah most likely it's regular.

If it's regular, I'm thinking background task.

I agree with deaths_soul that this sounds like a background task. Make sure to turn off any anti virus programs and anything else that you don't need while playing. While this is easily done through task manager I have been using the much lazier way of just using Gamebooster. Whatever works for you.
