At the bottom of this dungeon you will come to a room before the lexicon pedestal room. Within this room there is a table and a chair, but also a doorway with gate blocking your way. It clearly looks as though this gate can be lowered but the problem is I cannot figure out how to lower the gate.

I used candlelight and looked all over the room, backtracked down the hallway, went in the final room, nothing. So I played around with the trap room thinking there is a pattern to the floor switches, nothing there. I tried reloading to see if it was a glitch and the lever was not showing up, that did not work either. For desperation purposes I sat in the chair thinking that lowered the gate, nope.

I looked through my guidebook, online walk-throughs and even Googled, another person had the same issue but no one mentioned how to get past.

This is highly annoying since I am normally good about making my way through and clearing dungeons. Has anyone here found a way to lower this gate? If you have please let me know.


I hope the DEVs did not forget to add a lever to lower this gate, because that would svck!

Have you spoken to Mjoll the Lioness about why she's in Riften? I went through this ruin for that reason and ran into the sealed chamber problem, and I suspect it's because I didn't get the related task from her first. My current character will be making sure he gets the quest first, as well as getting a certain item from a nutcase north of the College, and will see if the bars are retracted under those circumstances.

The thing that Mjoll lost is in another ruin entirely; in another part of Skyrim.

I tcl'd my way past that that gate. There's nothing of interest. It only leads down into the piping underneath the floor.
