Game lags terribly when emerging from mod-added interiors

Hello everyone! My game is suffering from a strange affliciton that I'm hoping someone can help me with.

Whenever I emerge from a mod-added interior back into the outside world, there's about a one-in-four chance that my game will be unplayably laggy. This problem persists until I completely quit the game and then restart - a quicksave / quickload will not fix the problem.

Oddly this hasn't happened just to one mod, but seems to occur due to any mod. Here is a list of my current load-order:

---------------------------------------------------------
Active Mod Files:
00 Skyrim.esm
01 Extended Colors.esm
02 Update.esm
03 moonpath.esm
04 ApachiiHair.esm
05 Natural Characters and Companions.esm
06 Ranger Ridge.esm
07 Orlong's Hearth vdot9.esp
08 conjurationmadnessmodv1.esp
09 Ranger Ridge.esp
0A EMHighviewCottage.esp
0B TheClone Honeyside.esp
0C Spousetocustomhome.esp
0D RealisticWaterTextures.esp
0E SoS - The Wilds.esp [Version 1.0.1]
0F lt_better_horses.esp
10 Extended Colors - Selection.esp
11 HuntressArmor.esp
12 followerhuntingbowfix.esp
13 Live Another Life.esp [Version 1.4.1]
14 moonpath_questdata.esp
15 Natural Characters and Companions.esp
16 UFO - Ultimate Follower Overhaul.esp
17 LovelyHairstyles.esp
18 Fjollheimr.esp
19 riftborg.esp
1A okaazah.esp
1B Bashed Patch, 0.esp
---------------------------------------------------------

This has been BOSSED and, as you can say, is run with a current bashed patch.

Specifically I have noticed this occuring when I exit the captain's quarters in the moonpath to elsweyr mod, exiting the riftborg castle, exiting Fjollheimr, and exiting the Hawk's Nest added by the Beautiful CHaracters mod. It also occured upon exiting Dues Mons when I had that mod installed.

The only other thing worth noting is that, in Wrye Bash, my save file is colored orange. I know vaguely that this isn't good, but I'm not sure exactly what it means, how to go about fixing it, or if it could be at all related to my problem.

If anyone has helpful input it would be greatly appreciated!

Update: It apparently isn't just mod-added interiors. I just exited from a completely vanilla cave and the problem occurred. I must just spend a lot of time in modded areas, but it happens randomly when entering the exterior world from any interior space.

Hey,

I am having a similar issue - I don't think it has anything to do with mods as I was getting this problem before using any. I initially thought it was something to do with the NVIDIA beta drivers, but that does not seem to be it either. There seem to be a lot of people having similar problems.

Anyway, I'll keep trying a few things and see how it goes.

PS - there is a chance it has something to do with the Bethesda HD texture pack.

Hmm. I am using the texture pack. I hope it's not that because I really would not like to go back to default textures. Bleh.

when loading exteriors I notice this same issue fairly often, which I fix by alt-tabbing out and back into the game.

if it's a stutter you have, it's probably because of loading a lot of additional information into the video RAM when using mods and the HD texture pack, filling 1gb+ of memory in a second or so, as well as possibly dealing with a vram cap around 1-1.3gb, depending on how much memory your GPU has.

I don't know that I would call it just a "stutter" because it continues indefinitely. The framerate drops to what looks to me to be around the 8-15 fps range, and it stays this way as long as I'm in an exterior. If I wander around for fifteen minutes the problem persists. If I fast travel to another location, the problem persists.

If I go into an exterior then it's usually not so bad, but then if I wander back into the outer world it plummets again.

Same here. I can play for a decent amount of time, wandering around indoors and out... And then, enter any particular interior, and upon exiting into the exterior... it slows to a crawl just like you describe.

The funny thing is, is that until that slow-down hits me, the game runs perfectly smooth.

What mods are you running? when I get the time, I'm going to disable all of my mods and see if I'm still getting the problem without them running.

Also of note, it is definitely not ONLY modded interiors, as I don't run any mods that modify any interiors.
