ok i have all 3 necklaces i put on the pedestals then i fight the 3 warrior looking guys then a mage guy appears, but i cant attack him if im supposed to. it says to reforge the amulet. i noticed once if i kept hitting the pedestals a few times the amulets all changed to buckets lol is that supposed to happen or was it just a wierd glitch? anyway im wanting to know what im doing wrong or perhaps is the quest bugged for me and the mage is supposed to talk to me and reforge the amulet or something. thanks to any replys.

The ghost of the mage is the spirit of Gauldur, and after he appears, he is supposed to reforge the amulet for you. He is not hostile... he's one of the good guys. You can't talk to him -- he is supposed to appear, smack his son's spirits with a blast of magic, cast a spell to reforge the amulet for you, and then vanish back into the Aetherium from whence he came. You can loot his skeleton, though... he has a bunch of gold in his coffin...

PS It sounds like your end-sequence got messed up by a glitch. Try doing the encounter with the brothers again?
