What a sad ending

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 9:33 pm

Really?, the leader of the Stormcloaks, the mighty Ulfric surrenders and just cowers waiting for the final blow?
Sorry story writers, but that was a piss poor ending to the hero and leader of the stormcloaks.

While I was expecting a tough fight with Ulfric, that was not really my point, heck I'd have been glad to stand back and watch him and general Tulius go at it, the fact that he put up no fight at all was disappointing to say the least.

I felt the same way about him, it was a bit of a weak ending.
I've only done that ending once, I don't think I will bother in future, or at least without a mod to improve it.

I was disappointed with the civil war altogether. Not just the ending. I thought there would be more story to it, but it was basically just: Go capture this fort, now this one, and this one. Ok now take the city. There just wasn't much to it.

Yeah, I normally ignore the faction thing and just go for general side quests mixed with main quest, but I figured I go with the the legion on this play through, I was at level 50 when I joined them and I'd already defeated Alduin, in the whole civil war thing there was no real strategy, go here, kill everything in the fort, report back, the only small interesting part was catching up with the courier, took me like 5 minutes, courier attacks, switch to finisher, my characters sword passing through the couriers chest and done! (I could not use pick pocket as I had not invested in any perks for it).

But, before anyone calls me a hater, I'm over 200 hours on this character and still loving the game world, it's just the story and strategy that need redoing.

My Ulfric didn't wait for a `final blow`... After General Tullius said some stuff the Ulfric's general said some stuff too and started attacking and kinda took down Legate Rikke and then went after me while Ulfric went off his throne just to shout the hell out of Tullius...strange. Maybe there are a bit different endings, you know. Anyway the thing is this ending felt appropriate enough for me. :)

What exactly was he supposed to do? He couldn't even stand after the fight. He died with honor and courage. He did not cower like Tullius did.

Main quest spoilers.
Spoiler
There's a reason you can find Ulfric in Sovngarde if you kill him before getting there in the main quest.

Honour and Courage, pfft!
He lost all honour when he betrayed the Empire!
And Most Nords go to sovengarde.

I think he should have been put in irons and taken to the Imperial City for execution. Just killing him in the back room seemed lame.

It just amazed me that both sides have the exact same quests. I also wanted more city sieges. The Whiterun siege was the best part of the whole set of quests and it's over at the beginning.

Oh wow, I had a totally different ending. I chose to stand with Ulfric and in my game, Ulfric led us as we destroyed the imperials. Ulfric defeated Tullius and then before killing him, he gave a pretty awesome speech about the liberation of Skyrim. Ulfric was a major hero in my game.

What were you expecting? This was the same guy riding in the cart with you at the beginning of the game after all, to me that says he didn't go down fighting like a true nord.

What do you mean? In my game Ulfric had no problem to finish off Tullius...

Actually, only the "honored nords" go to sovengarde. And It was the Empire the one who turned Its back to the Stormcloaks after they made that little nasty piece of work in the reach and agreeing to lift the ban over Talos worship. I want every province with Its own govern, every nation ahs the right of self government.

This is not truth, i did both quests, and tulius actually begs for his life, has rikke tries to have a end with dignity, he just lays down.
Ulfric is not afraid to die and asks that you the dragonborn, to kill him.

The entire quest line was very badly made, It had a lot of potential but they just went with dull repetitive quests even the final battle was pretty lame.
