Steam... what do I do?

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 9:02 pm

Hey guys! I have the retail version of Skyrim... but I can't play it, I get this "This game is currently unavailable. Please try again at another time" message everytime I try to play it.

I re-installed Steam, I re-installed Skyrim (twice), I deleted the ClientRegistry.blob file, I verified the catche of the game, etc. I did everything I could find on the internet about this issue but still get the same message.

Please, what should I do? This is getting VERY frustrating.

Thanks.

Have you tried adding it to your DEP (Data Execution Prevention) exceptions list ? :

Data Execution Prevention
  • Go to Start > Control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance > Data Execution Prevention.
  • Select "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select:"
  • Select "Add", navigate to C:\Program Files\Steam (or your default Steam directory), and add Steam.exe to the exception list.
  • Additionally, you will want to add any .exe's for the game you are seeing issues with. These files will either be in Steam\steamapps\common\ or in \Steam\steamapps\\\

Thank you for your help but unfortunately I didn't work.

I'm getting EXTREMELY frustrated by this. Is this Steam some kind of joke or what???? I need a solution! I tried EVERYTHING but still I can't play a game that costed me 50 dollars (with the salary I have that is a lot of money).

PC games should be insert cd, install and play!!!

Have you tried changing the Steam server region setting. It is possible the server is trying to use is down/busy and a patch is preventing it from starting.

Restart Steam after making the change, also you should verify the cache afterwards.

this. This is why i dislike steam so much. Having to use the internet and a spyware when installing a single player non-internet game. I understand your frustration because it happened to me too.

If you want to discuss Steam, take it here: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1359009-unofficial-steamdrm-discussion-27/

This isn't the place for it.

For the actual issue, please see this: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4595-wexn-6831

Thank you but no, didn't work. I still get the same message.

That's it, I'm uninstalling this [censored]. I'm downloading the game. I bought it (I even bought the official game guide with it!), so I don't feel guilty at all. In fact, I feel frustrated and sad.

You can close this thread now, thanks.
