Corrupt game files?

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 5:44 am

I've been noticing several strange problems lately which makes me suspect something is wrong with the game files. The first most obvious are strange visual artifacts appearing on textures/models. They only seem to appear at certain distances or in certain lighting situations, so might be related to mipmaps/normals?

I've also been getting increased amounts of error messages when loading up Skyrim.esm in the Creation Kit. In addition, when making bashed patches in Wrye Bash it always tells me the files are missing the Skyrim.esm master, even though it's there. So if the .esm and bsa files have been corrupted somehow, is there any way I can restore them without flat out reinstalling the whole game?

You can verify the files in Steam: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335
