Inventory Mouse Help?

Skyrim Inventory Mouse

Right, I know this seems silly, pretty much to you, but when I'm in my inventory (or at least in the ESC menu), I use my mouse, I try to click something, other than the already highlighted item/option I'm highlighting, it just does nothing. I've seen other people do it, but I can't do it, for some reason. You know, without using the keys to select something, like using mouse to select something.

Could anybody at least try to help? This would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Few things.

If you are not using a controller, like the 360 one, then uncheck both the controller and rumble in the options menu for gameplay. That can help with menu responsiveness. This will probably help you the most.

Even then, I have noticed that the tracking of the mouse seems to "off" or the focus is not quite right. It is hit or miss, but in that case, if you use the arrow keys on the keyboard, you can move around the menus, sometimes even go back to the mouse once you something in the area that you want to be in highlighted. Hitting the enter key on the keyboard will take you into the selected menu.

Also, if you are like me on my game, if you try to exit the game and the UI seems unresponsive, then use the console and type in qqq and you quit to the desktop. I even use this just to avoid the "Are you sure you want to quit messages"

Thank you, but that's not really the answer, yet again, thank you, I never knew 'qqq' could quit.
My mouse cannot select what is above or below it without using keys. Go to my channel on Youtube (Darkraid901) and click on the video relating to this problem. Thank you.

Your video is 0:00 long?

Just to clarify, do you otherwise use a controller in your game?

Any... help?
Maybe my video hasn't... loaded properly?

In the in-game options menu, is the controller disabled?

If you fiddle with moving your mouse a bit, does it respond or does the highlighted option still not change?

I fiddle a lot. It still doesn't work. Look in the video.

The Skyrim UI is very poorly ported from the consoles to the PC. You are describing one of the many known bugs, unresolved by Bethesda.
The only real solution, is to use a different UI (a mod). SkyUI is a great example:

I notice that if I read a book from my inventory, I need to click somewhere in the main menu once or that last book remains selected and I can't choose another. Does that sound like your problem? And did you do as CCNA suggested and untick Xbox controller support and vibration in the options? This is almost mandatory for keyboard and mouse players. The difference is huge.

Other than that, I'm not sure what to tell you. See if you can get that video working as it might help diagnose the problem. One last thing... and this is not meant to insult your intelligence... try another mouse and see if the problem is still there. My own mouse finally gave up on me. At first, it only acted up in Skyrim and Firefox.

Asking someone to view a video to figure out what's going on isn't really good. You can't tell much from videos and some can't view them.

If you move to the side and such and then hover again and whatnot, does it respond at all? The game is finicky about that sort of thing.

Yes, it seems like my problem quite at bit, but it applies with all the items.

Okay, I see what you are talking about now. No idea what to tell you. Are you sure there isn't another input device plugged into the computer? Flight yoke, controller, graphics tablet, etc?

Wait, let me rephrase my question.

Whenever I hover my mouse over a item in my inventory, it doesn't glow, so I have to use W and S to scroll.
Whenever I'm in dialogue, I need to use W and S as well.
And that happens with the character menu as well.

Help?
