Unable to see underwater

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 10:11 am

So, I've been having graphic issues with skyrim for a bit now, whenever I loaded the game up there were holes in the foreground textures that made it look like I was seeing the game througha dirty window. I've worked around the problem now by utlizing an ENB injector, but now I can't see underwater. Full immersion in water = ugly blue-green screen. Any ideas as to what is happening here?

You're using ENB, that's why. I'm not sure if there's a solution short of removing ENB altogether...someone who uses it might know more. Hopefully there's an updated version (or a tweak to the current one) that lets ENB work properly with the 1.5 underwater changes.

Edit: Oh hai thar, embarrassing typo. Whoops.

That's a known problem with the 12.2-12.4 AMD drivers when you use anti antialiasing in Skyrim.

This animated picture shows it well: http://www.tweakguides.com/images/Antialiasing.gif

It smooths rough edges.

Anti-aliasing smooths out edges and makes things look less jaggy/have fewer jagged edges.

Also, it's worth pointing out that if you are indeed having gray pixel squares like the ones shown in povu's picture, turning off AA is a bandaid fix. This was a problem that cropped up in the 12.2 AMD drivers, and the only reason for it to persist into later driver iterations (12.3, 12.4) is because you installed a newer driver set over the faulty 12.2 set.

To truly get rid of them and fix the issue (and keep your anti-aliasing), you need to completely uninstall your current GPU drivers and reinstall with a fresh set. Any driver version other than 12.2 will do; current version is 12.4, although some people have reported issues with it. 12.3 or 12.1 should also work fine.

If you don't know how to do a clean upgrade like that, follow the instructions http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1368527-graphic-issue-pixelated-like-image/page__p__20665695#entry20665695.

Well, killing the ENB allowed me to see underwater, but the holes in the foreground textures are still there even after I've turned off antialiasing. I've got an NVIDEA GT330 series card here.

A screenie would be nice. As would be your driver version.

did you put a .dll file in the skyrim directory? If you did, remove it.

Whoa. That's rather ancient, if I do say so myself.

Try 296.10 and see if that helps.

The unvisible underwater bug is fixed in the newest ENB versions. I use the 0.112 without any problems.
