Screaming Khajit is annoying

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 12:54 pm

Can someone please tell me if there is a way to shut off the screams and sounds my khajit makes when it gets hurt or hit. I have played the other characaters and anyone who plays Skyrim knows that sound is important so it's up pretty high, so when my Khajit screams it is quite horrible, shocking and off putting. It's quite a bit louder than the other chareacter pain sound files and it's a hundred times more annoying. It sounds like he is yacking up a furball and screaming at the same time.

This is the first time in my relationship with my GF that I have played a video game. It was going okay until I started playing this Khajit and now she is quite disturbed by it and has asked me not to play this character because of those sounds. I am starting to agree with her. The screams and yelps of the Kheajit are way out of proportion from the other characters.

Please tell me there is a way to shut him up without shutting off my sound.

Your post makes it seem like the Khajiit pain noises are purely resigned to that race. They sound totally humanoid to me - more humanoid than I would like.

But unless you mod them out (on PC) or mute your TV, you're not going to be able to cut them out. Sorry.

Yes they are too loud and accurate. It is why my gf is so disturbed by them. I know it is going to take some form of a mod or something but I think it needs to be done. I don't want to turn her off to her first video game.

The Khajit sounds are different than the sounds in other races btw. The other races make this OOF! sound when falling and the Khajit sscreams when it falls and its very loud compared to the other characters and very unnecessary/. :(

If your GF doesn't like Khajit now, read her The Real Barenziah (Daggerfall version)

on topic, Im not around my game but is there a slider for SFX you could turn down?

perhaps you could delete the sound files for Khajit males? unfortunately steam might do a verification check before starting though to see if they are there, beyond that I couldn't help ya

Then stop hurting your cat. He's really sensitive.

Tell her to watch where she's going and stop falling.

My best advice would be to mute voices while playing on your Khajiit, and enable subtitles.

All you can do is replace the Khajiit voice files with Nord.
