Sign carved under whiterun bridge? : V

Does anybody what the sign carved under the bridge as you enter white run is about, is it part of a quest or something?

Might be a shadowmark, from the thieves guild. I'm not sure though because I can't check atm.

It's just under the bridge after you go in through the main gate of whiterun. It's just a triangle with a circle inside carved in the stone.

There are several of these in the game... There is one right by the entrance to The Ragged Flaggon.

It looks similiar to the Deathly Hallows symbol from Harry Potter
