I now understand the pain (minor spoilers?)

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 6:40 am

I can't believe it's happened to me! I've read the angry posts from players saying their game is broken and unplayable, and thought to myself "what a bunch of whiners!" My game ran great on my 360, no issues aside for the occasional grainy texture.

I now whole heartedly feel your pain! My game has somehow broken and I can no longer continue. I went to Sigmunds Outpost with the lexicon, and spoke to the abyss. I exited the outpost back into skyrim, and the game crashed. I reloaded, it crashed again. I tried to reload a precious game, crash again.... As soon as the game loads it crashes 5 seconds later.

I dont know what to do... I've put in about 90 hours and for what I can tell my game is over just as it was getting started. I'm crushed.

My last effort is to appeal for help, hopefully someone has a solution...

This is your punishment for thinking we are whiners! :vaultboy:

But in all seriousness, try cleaning your disk.

Haha I suppose that's fair... Yeah it's not a disk problem... I'm installed On the 360 and the disk is spotless... I have heard that clearing my cache and reinstalling the patch can help... Anyone know how on 360?

You may just need to go back a save and run that quest again.. I've had to do that to get some things to work.. especially some puzzles/doors etc that would just not work until I reloaded a previous save and triggered the quest again...

As suggested, go back a save.

Also, turn off the Autosave features, it could be crashing trying to make the save. To that end, keep the Autosave features off.

Another thing to try is to just wait 73 hours in the cave before you try to exit (with the Autosaves off) that should clear out most of the scripts. Usually it is some script issue that causes a cell load crash.

Go to your Xbox system settings and clear your cache.... you may also try a save before the one you're loading.

keep atleat 6 saves going so you always have an earlier save that you can fall back to.

I hope that would be 73 game hours.

Yah I've had to start a new save over finally this week after 160 hours of stability. The game just started crashing every few minutes and no trick could resolve it

I'm seeing a similar phenomena across the forum as more and more players hit the 150 hour+ wall where the save file just starts getting too kludged to remain stable; guess this'll be bethesda's next big patch

There's a few things you can try, but you need to double check your save files also, since there's a thing where the file get too large and I haven't read anything that can help for that yet.

Here's a thread with something I've tried after reading it. And it seems to help. http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1318808-clearing-the-caches/

And I've tried holding the two bumpers and the "X" button, to be clear

Step 1: Unplug xbox.
Step 2: Open window
Step 3: Toss xbox out window.
Step 4: Buy Ps3
Step 5: ???
Step 6: Profit!

But no, in all seriousness, if everything else fails that people are recommending, why not just start a new game and go through the fun of doing it all over again? That's always an option!

I just hit this mark on my main file, and it is unusuable. It was sad indeed...though I had three other characters I was also playing. So...I really don't care. :D

Cache clearing can help a LOT with many game problems you'll experience on the 360. If you're ever playing a game and start to randomly have lag, freezing, or even graphical glitches, ask yourself when you last cleared the system cache. Just keep in mind that you'll have to re-download all patches and updates for your games.

Go to system at the end/far right, xbox settings then storage, go to the drive with skyrim on and press Y theres an option to perform maintainance which clears the cache including game patches so when you boot up skyrim next youll have to reinstall the lastest one or remain offline.

Step two get so paranoid your game is going to screw up in some manner afraid to level/unsure whether to enter cells and set the npcs at the level you are at that you keep deleting all your progress past riverwood and just have no clue what the hell your supposed to do due to the lineararity impose by broken aspects of the game.

Step 3 stop judging people for real complaints. But hey you could always use to console to fix errors...oh wait...
