how to remove the werewolf "curse"?

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 2:26 am

spoiler alert if you havent finished the companions campaign:
i know i was supposed to bring a severed head of these witch type creatures to the ulter to rid myself of this curse, but i didnt know it by then and only brought one head and "cured" the companions leader.

but now i want to cure myself.

so questions are -

1) where do i get a head of these witch types to place on the alter? apparently when i meat this witch somewhere else but couldnt get it's head. just it's feathers.

2) where is this alter? i forgot :\

thanks

Dont you mean 'Gift'? Sovngarde welcomes Heroes Of Skyrim, even Werewolves, aslong as they use their gift for the good of the fatherland.

The easiest way I can think of is to restart the game.

the easiest way is to restart the quest only. you are given the option to kill only one witch or to kill them all. kill them all and you will have 5 heads.

one for kodlak, one for you, one for each of the brothers should you do the quests for curing them. and one for your mantle.

How do you get the quest for curing them (purity)? I just started a topic on this cause i am having difficulty getting that quest from Vilkas or Farkas

i dont follow -
i finished their campaign and kodlak is dead.

i dont remember where the shrine with the alter is and i definitely dont remember where i got the severed heads from.

if anyone knows the names of these places i assume that i can go back, kill the witches to get their heads again and go to the alter.
if there's another way - i'd love to hear about it.

I runned into a bug, couldnt cure myselfs after I left the cave were you cure the dead members soul so had to go back couple saves and cured myselfs straight after curing the other one! I would advise you to do that as well if you dont want to stay a werewolf the rest of the time;-) ---(( im on the xbox360))---

You mean Ysgrammor's tomb. Yngvild is part of a different quest.

The witches are at Glenmoril Coven, northwest of Falkreath.

No, when you have the curse, or "gift" as some call it, of being a Werewolf you do not go to Sovngarde. You go to Hircine's realm and join him in the hunt. This is the reason Kodlak wants to be cured.

At the end of the Companions Questline, a Radiant Quest: Purity becomes available for those adventures who wish to rid themselves of the beast within. As a part of that quest, you must cut off the head of a Glenmoril Witch, bringing it into the depths of the Tomb of Ysgramor, draw the spirit of the wolf from your body, and defeat it. Once the ritual is complete, your cure is permanent, and you cannot contact lycanthropy again.

Hope this helps.

I finished helping cure Kodlak and haven't done the Radiant quests for any of the Companions yet. I have a few Witch heads with me and when I go back to Ysgramor's Tomb and try activating the Flame of the Harbinger nothing happens. I do have the head in my inventory and have completed the quest curing Kodlak but haven't done any of the Companion's Raidiant quests. Any ideas on how I can cure myself?

As far as I know, it is only the head of a Glenmoril Witch that will work; not just the head of any witch.

I have about four Glenmorial Witch heads. I didn't realize you could get any other sort of witch head. But that's the one I got and I still can't activate the Flame and cure the disease.

Hmmmm..go to the Companion's sanctuary : Jorrvaskr in Whiterun. Talk to Farkas or Vilkos to give you the Radiant Quest: Final Wave: Purity. There maybe prerequisites before one can complete this quest. I don't know. I have not done any of the Companion's Quests also. But I believe that the Purity Quest comes from those two people. I am going to research further.

Hircine takes the werewolves; they never make it to Sovngarde. That's why the Harbinger wanted cured. He didn't want to be part of Hircine's Hunt for eternity.

thank you everyone. this debate helped me know where to get the heads (it's impressive that the game still rememebered the positions of the corpses and all in that cave) and where to place them.

i am now a normal person who can sleep for some XP bonuses.

i played as a werewolf for more than 70 hours and changed only once. i wasnt sure i wanted to cure myself but i think the statistics speak for themselves.
