random CTD's. can't play anymore :(

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 6:40 pm

hi community,
I bought skyrim yesterday and after 2 hours of playing the random CTD's began to appear. I get them after 1 or 2 minutes ingame and sometimes even in the loading screen. I tried everything I found in forums but nothing fixed it. reinstall didn't work too.
My system:
windows vista 32bit home premium
intel core 2 quad cpu Q8300 @ 2.5ghz
4gb RAM
nvidia geforce gtx460

I hope someone can help me.

Hi, welcome to the forums.

The latest patch; 1.5.26, does cause CTDs for some people.

In addition, you may have a corrupted savegame. There is no fix for this, you have to start a new game. I recommend turning off autosave and manually saving frequently.

Are you playing vanilla Skyrim? Did you try out any mods? Do you still use those mods, or did you uninstall them?

I deleted all the saves at the reinstall. when I start a new game I get a CTD after 1-2 minutes. before reinstall I had 1.6 beatpatch and CTD's. the weired thing is that I played for 2 hours and then the CTD's began to appear.

Glad you sorted it mate :) your crashes were because you have a 32bit OS and you need 64 bit for the texture pack so skyrim can access more ram.
