How Do You Focus The Crystal in the Oculatory

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 9:48 am

This just baffles me. I have fire and frost equipped but I don't know if i'm supposed to aim at the crystal, that didn't work, aim at the circles on the ceiling, that didn't work. There is no light. These puzzles usually don't baffle me but this one is ridiculous. I prefer to fight, lol. The guide is of no use because it doesn't explain, shoot fire/frost at what, for how long, etc. Where is the light, really, where is the light. Help, please.

aim at the crystal you just activated, Frost will lower the beams and Fire will raise them.

It is suposed to work on the cristals, they will expand/retract acording if you use fire or ice.

If it's night time there will not be any light. You will have to wait until day.

Also, I have read on the forums that there might be a bug with this for some people where the light doesn't appear. Hopefully it'll just be the lack of daylight.

There is a bug with certain video card drivers not rendering the light beams, are you playing on PC? If so, are your graphics card drivers up-to-date?

 i've done it twice and its tricky, but this is how i do it, don't try to line up all 3 beams at the same time, first line up one beam to a spot on the celing, then use the button to rotate the part of the roof until it lines up with the beam, them use the spells to angle the next beam to a spot on the ceiling, then rotate the cylinder to it, then do the same for the last one...don't try to line up all 3 beams at the same time.

As others have mentioned, daytime is essential I think, due to the fact it uses sunlight focused beams. As well don't use firebolt or ice spike (they still move the beams but its spike damage and they will move past their mark) use the frostbite and flames spells (which are provided by the buttons to the contraption) and coax the light beams into the rings. Just make sure each beam is centered on one of those rings on the roof not in between them) and you're good to go.

It's noon, I have nVida and the newest drivers (had to get them for my copy of RAGE), in fact the Skyrim beta drivers so it's must be a bug because I have no light beams, night or day. So how do I console through the quest. I thought as much when I didn't see any lights. I'm going to quit and go back in and see if I get the light beams. But if someone could tell me how to advance the quest to complete, I'd appreciate it. And yes, I was doing it correctly just no light beams at all.

Edit: Ok, restarted the game and now I have beams of light. Must be just a glitch. Thanks.

One thing you might want to try, I can't say for sure it will work all the time in every game but..

Last time I did this I just used Frostbite on the crystal until the lights stopped moving and they were perfectly alligned, I did that in my latest game after seeing another poster mention it a while back.

As the others mentioned, don't try to aim all three beams at once. Use flames or frost until one of the beams lines up with a ring. Then, rotate the ring until it locks. Repeat for the other two beams.

Thanks but it was because I didn't have the beams of light, see my edit on my second post. The game is glitched, what can I say. Completed that and am on to the next task.
