Either, serious bug. Or very poorly designed "quest"

Let me start off by saying the rest of this post will have lots of spoilers in it. Warned.


Ok, so I just got to the end of the Stormcloak quest lines, and I am hoping to god my game is bugged, because the alternative is that, what I believe to be a VERY good quest line, is completely ruined by how awfully designed the end was.

I finish taking the final keep to liberate Haafinger, when returning to the quest giver I get told that we are going to take Solitude. I do not however get my objective "Liberate Haafinger" ticked off, which is my first sign that it might be a bug. I just receive a new quest "receive orders from Ulfric Stormcloak" So I make my way to the gates of Solitude and listen to his speech. Then it ticks off that objective, the stormcloaks and Ulfric run into solitude. When I enter however its just me, Ulfric and his right hand guy. Solitude is just in it's normal state, NPC's wondering around. Solitude guards patrolling.

After fighting with the guards to get the the castle (and racking up a bounty while doing so) there was a couple NPC's that you could not kill, so would cower, and then revived 20 seconds later, making it very annoying. Then after getting into the keep the legion guy in there also would not die, so kept reviving and attacking me while Ulfric and the general were talking. Then when Ulfric opens dialogue with me which I cannot exit out of the Legion NPC kept beating on me and I was unable to retaliate.

Please tell me my game is bugged, and if possible a possible fix, and not that the final quest in a good quest line had 0 attention paid to it. Anyone else done this quest and can tell me if they experienced similar problems.

When I did it there was a full on war, and I had objectives to do to get to the commander, letting down a draw bridge etc.

Ok that makes me feel better. Just dissapointed that I couldn't experience it lol.

Yep I had the same as you on the xbox. I kept getting the Solitude mission before the Haafinger one was ticked off, plus there was no Solitude on the map. I went beck to before I discovered and entered the Haafinger camp, then I walked up to the Bearclaw guy very carefully and managed to get the 'talk to' dialogue before he started his piece. I managed to activate the talk dialogue box and say reporting in, he then told me to meet my buddies to liberate yet another fort which you will find the quest marker for under another quest heading in your journal. That done he gave me the Solitude one again (no chance to activate a dialogue on this one) and now there is an arrow where Bob Stormcloak is situated (jk Ulfric).

Hope this helps you or others, not too many folks had our problem judging by the search I did.

The whole quest line is bugged bad for me starting with Hraggstad as stated above. Once i walked to the Stormcloak Camp near Solitude it said mission complete for speak to Ulfric. Once i found Solitude there was no one outside so i went inside and started fighting. The Imperials did not re-spawn continuously...several times but they did stop spawning. Once inside the castle there was no cut-scene and my guy couldn't move. The 4 npc's just stood in the far room. I tried reloading from a save from before this battle to no avail. I hope this gets fixed with the next big patch in January. Also, throughout this quest and the 2 before it, npc's that were invisible and from towns were talking to me but only during battles for forts. Lastly, text was scrolling by very fast when talking to Ulfri and his Captain without my hitting any buttons.
