Thinking of switching to PC

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 3:54 pm

Console codes would help many problems and i'm jealous of the upcoming creation kit but I hate key and mouse for anything but strategy games so I have 2 questions:

does PC skyrim lag heavy and how responsive are the xbox controllers?

Oops meant this for the general...no real spoilers here :P

Lag depends on your rig.... obviously, the better your PC, the better you can run Skyrim. Switching to PC will probably show you a VAST improvement in graphics detail, especially if you use mods -- which is another good reason to get the PC version. Mods make everything better. :)

I've heard controllers are just fine on PC.

I don't have any lag at all.... Machine specs:

AMD Phenom II X4 945 CPU 3.0 Ghz
16 GB Corsair RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460SE
Dual 1920x1080 ViewSonic VX 2233wm monitors
3 TB total hdd (2 physical drives, various partitions)

Over a year old.... and even in WoW the only real lag I have is due to having only WildBlue satband as "broadband" connect (that round-trip to the sat is a KILLER....)

lag depends on your system. as far as the xbox controller goes i wouldnt even recommend using one. i have one and ave playyed it but you feel seriously and i mean SERIOUSLY gimped compared to using the mouse and keyyboard. the mouse just gives you so much more accuracy than the anolog stick ever can, and allows you to aim and fire while moving at thhe same time without ever being slowed down.

really try it, it just feels bad man. but the controller is 100% responsive anyways for what its worth.

If you got the cash, get a gaming rig.

There is no reason not to switch to P.C gaming if you have the money to keep up with the hardware.

My b.s computer runs Skyrim at lowest resolution just barely, but my PS3 does better. I wouldn't know about XBOX, just can't seem to justify buying two consoles... plus paying for Live just annoys the [censored] out of me.

Personal preference here, but I've never been a fan of mouse and keyboard. I would recommend modding a controller type of your choice if that's what you're used to. Extra hotkeys and console commands are real nice, but my wrists go numb after posting up for
my hours long Skyrim sessions.
