Wonder if you could help me out on 2 points.

Firstly, does the chest in your house have a limit to the amount of things it can hold or is infinite?

Secondly, where do I find the steward in Whiterun so i can decorate my house?

Yes you can put as much as you want in a chest.

The steward will usually be in the main hall of Dragonsreach during the day.

Chest: No idea, but it's a lot.

Steward: He's in the Jarl's castle at the top of the hill (Dragonsreach) and likes to hang out around the Jarl most of the time. His name is Proventus Avenicci. You've met him during the first quest already.

Thanks for your speedy response guys. Didn't realise the steward was Proventus, doh.... I'll get it on for 10 mins now to check it out - 6 hours later...

yes chests can store unlimited items, but be careful when you buy upgrades for your house. As containers can be removed all together or be moved, leading to curses and lost items.

Proventus may also be found outside, on the large terrace leading from Dragonsreach.
