What's the fastest way to power level destruction?

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 10:55 am

Hey all, I'm level 70 and I've got myself a set of leather gear for -100% destruction spell cost and I'm at level 50. I've bought Ice Storm and I'm planning on using it to level up to 75 or maybe even 100. I've chosen the guy at Jorvaskr who "tests you out" when you want to join. Is this the fastest way to do it? It seems like it goes so slow compared to restoration which is significantly slower then alternation, conjuration and illusion. (I've maxed those four.) (I also have the active effects Mage Stone for +20% and Well Rested for +10%.)

It seems like it'll take an hour and a half at this rate.

Oh and when I'm dual wielding the same spell, am I right in thinking that combining it (by activating them at the same time) only gives you the same amount of experience as if you only used one hand? Whereas activating it in each hand separately you get experience for both?

Cheers.

I personally set up a suit of armor that also reduced restoration by 100% at the same time and cast healing hands and flames or frostbite on the same wolf on novice difficulty for a few hours and got to 100 that way... Had the added effect of raising restoration to 100 at the same time... There's also the option of the Oghma Infinium glitch but I always feel more of a sense of accomplishment when I raised my skills by actually using them in some way... Of course I only use destruction magic for the trap rune spells because they are entertaining but I did make lvl 81 legitimately... Also get married for the lover's comfort bonus as it's 15% instead of the 10% from well rested... And destruction takes roughly forfreakingever to level no matter how you do it... I didn't notice gaining any levels faster with higher level spells for some reason though I did it on patch 1.1...

And as far as the dual casting goes I believe you get more exp if you cast in one hand and then the other hand...

All the stuff that those guys above me said, but use Shadowmere as a "training partner". He's perfect for it.

Me too, I don't want to use glitches. Mmm, I see. Well thanks for the info!
Train it
I've trained it a few times but I don't really understand how it works. I've trained it up 5 levels with two people, an expert and master trainer I think. It doesn't seem I can train it up any more though.

Who's Shadowmere? EDIT: I see, I killed Astrid though so no Dark Brother Hood quests for me.

Haha, I'd rather not torture them lol, I would feel guilty

there's a mod on the nexus which lets you continually dual-cast destruction spells as long as you have mana. It might help your cause.

Summon atronach,kill,rinse & repeat.
Can be done with necromancy spells too.
Kill every beast you find, ressurect and kill again.
Destro doesnt lvl as fast as your conju will, but its a great combo.

I just hung out in the arch mages quarters, summoned a wolf, and killed it with Wall of Fire (or is it Wall of Flames? I forget) and did that repeatedly. I got to 100 quick enough.

Killing your summons I believe trains it. With that logic, just find an empty space and continuously summon and kill, summon and kill.

dual wield and don't be tempted by weapons or conjuring... trust me. it goes really fast if you dual wield right from the start.

also, for leveling flames is better than firebolt... etc... for obvious reasons if you have to hit it in combat to make it count, you can strafe flames, sparks and frostbite, you single target the next rank and it goes slower.

shadowmere is best for powerleveling it, but outside that the onl real way to do it is just run around and blast everything in sight.

Hide before you cast the destruct and you will also level Sneak, good way to level all three.

Go on an elemental killing spree. Bandits, Forsworn, giants, mammoths, trolls, bears,Thalmor, bunnies. If it moves, kill it with fire and lightning!!

Oh, and activating the mage stone helps too...

Who'd want to power-level it? Attack skills level just fine, just go out and clean house. The only skill worth training/powerleveling, imo is armour, because who wants to sit there and and get beat up?

i agree, who would want to power level it?

just use it all the time with a sword and voila it goes up all the time as does singlehanded.
