are the companions good, or not?

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 7:24 pm

i have my hero joined to the companions, but i read that they have a secret werewolf cult or something as part of their faction.

...before i actually go ahead with the companion storyline, could someone tell me if they're really good people like they go around proclaiming?

will i be forced to do any evil deeds in the storyline as a werewolf or whatever?

not really, most just enjoy what they have, and don't mind going with their daedric prince when they die.

first edit: adding what question, I'm responding to.

second edit: I'm being too vague on second thought. So, I'm referring to the Inner Circle who are werewolves, they seem like good folk overall.

They're mercenaries with a code of honor, the only bad thing you'll have to really do is become a werewolf and depending on your character it could be a blessing. Of course there is a Radient AI quest that involves you beating up a random person for protection money IRC.

Edit: It isn't for protection money apparently the person you're sent to beat up has been making trouble in the city.

Black & white morality doesn't apply to TES. That said, the Companions frown on indiscriminate killing.

They work for pay, like most warrior fellowships, but they only take on reasonably-honorable missions (rescuing someone, clearing out monsters, etc).

While some of them have a secret or two, it doesn't lead them to do anything horrific - there is some internal disagreement about those secrets, but progress through the faction questline never puts you in the position of doing anything 'evil' per se.

(They will end up in conflict with another group at one point, but it quickly becomes clear that that other group - for all of their pretensions - are a pretty twisted bunch, not 'good guys'.)

Yeah, the 'other group' attacks you whether or not you're a werewolf, so you shouldn't have any qualms against killing them. They're radicals. I mean, just from looking at their dungeons... *shudders*

No.

Spoiler
Three out of five of the werewolves don't want to be werewolves anymore.

Nice thing about werewolves in Skyrim is that they choose when they want to be wolves.

You can get a cure later on in the questline if you want and can do it whenever after you do the mission, but once you get cured theres no going back to being a werewolf again so you be stuck as a normal person.

Yes, don't forget this. You choose when to be a werewolf, you get 100% disease resistance, but you don't get the 10% bonus when you sleep.

they're not evil, they want to kill dragons but other than that they aren't too bad..you don't have to kill anyone except enemies anyway in their quests.
