Some guy from Marthal keeps following me.

Hello- I was doing a quest yesterday to kill a master vampire located in a cave near Marthal (Morthal? I don't know : P), and three men came with me to help me. I was killed by the vampire, so I dropped the quest for a little bit to level up and get prepared. One of the men stopped following me before we even went into the cave, and one of them is my companion. The third, though, thinks we're still doing the quest or something, because he keeps following me and my companion. We went to the plains near Whiterun to fight some mammoths because I figured, "eh, he's just another companion!" But whenever we get in a fight, he runs away and screams, then comes back. So I accidently hit him with a frostbite spell, so now he keeps trying to kill me- then my companion comes along and hits him, but he's someone from a quest , so he's invincible ._.

I was wondering if there's a way to get him to stop following me? Thanks in advance for any help!

So did you complete the quest? I'm afraid he'll just follow you being essential as long as that quest is uncompleted.

I've tried and tried to kill the vampire, but his level is extremely high. I'm waiting to level up a bit more, then I'll try it out again.

Then you are stuck with him until you finish it. On PC you can use the console and force him to stop combat (or freeze him in place if you want him to not follow you at all). But on a console, try getting arrested. That usually resets people from attacking you.

i believe the expression is function follows form. and from sound of it, that's what he was doing. besides, having to put up with disconnected quests that criss-cross each other without much feedback as to when they properly connect has been one of those consistent "idioms" in TES games, at least as far as i can remember.

Alright, thank you for the help.
