Heavy Armor + Stealth + Magic ?

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 11:34 pm

Hey guys,

Basically, im on my first (and probably only) playthrough and i have been playing as a dark elf. My play style is half mage/half assassin. I started off with the intention of being pure mage but ended up doing stealth and dual dagger assasinations/fights. I mostly just fight with daggers until my magika comes up so i can do a massive destruction spell. I have been using light armor to compliment this.

But my main gripe is this - and yes, it is ridiculous - that all the light armor looks so terrible.

I mean, just bad. I was super excited to get the Nightingale armor (after seeing a photo here) but i didn't realise it was fully enchanted with [censored] i dont care for like frost and illusion. So now, im stuck with this terrible looking elven armor (it just looks ridiculous with the evilest looking elf i could make) so im thinking if i make some ebony armor and use sneak enchants on parts and jewlery, with magic (i have 100 enchanting and smithing), would it would be possible to be great at stealth?

Currently my sneak is 73 and i have the right side of the perks tree. Combined with the "muffled movement" perk, would i get on just fine?

Also, my light armor rating is 43 but i only have the first stage of the first perk. My heavy armor is 25 and i have no perks on it.

Im Level 37 if you're curious.

So yeah, thoughts?

PS What the hell is the point in swords when the daggers only do 4 points of damage less? Both are legendary ebony too!

You could get Ebony Mail from http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Boethiah's Quest.

it's a really nice piece of heavy armor.

Swords benefit from One-Handed enchants on equipment/potions and have x6 Sneak Attack damage, where daggers don't benefit from One-Handed damage enchants and have x15 sneak attack damage (x30 with dark brotherhood gloves).

there are some great light armors but it all depends on what suits you and your character. my girl likes the forsworn armor.

why not try enchanting any heavy armor peices that you like and see what happens.

I would always have a longer weapon and a shield for those badass bandits that whail 2 handed weapons at you.

wrong. daggers also benefit from one-handed enchanted armor. dont believe me? compare the damage stat of a dagger with or without the one-hand enchanted armor.

the main difference is this: daggers - high damage per second, low effective reach. swords, lower damage per second, higher effective reach. unless you use a katana like the blades sword, you get high damage per second and good sword reach.

Silence perk completely silences the noise penalty heavy armor creates.

Ebony Mail from the Boethiah quest should be good, as it is considered heavy armor.

You may want to reconsider Illusion, as Illusion contains the much-liked Muffle spell (reduces the noise of your movements) and Invisibility, let alone the calms, fears, and best of all, fury spells :). Illusion also leads to the Quiet Casting perk, perfect for your Destruction habit. Quietly cast a fire rune on the ground, lure an unsuspecting target over it, enjoy the BBQ.

Too many to backstab, or they're too close to one another? Fury one of em, thin the crowd some. Backstab whats left.

Target out in the open? No way to close the gap to sink a dagger into his neck without being seen? Invisibility, move up, slice.

Stealth gameplay synergizes well with Illusion, Archery, One-handed for backstabbing, Alchemy for insanely powerful potions.

Thanks for the tips guys! Im currently out soul harvesting (with the blackstar) and finding some good armor to disenchant. I'll let you know of my combinations when im done.

Also, i guess i overlooked illusion, sounds like some fun stuff. I just haven't come across any good spells yet, although i do spam conjure alot.

Also, that ebony mail looks great, i'll try and do the quest soon!

Get the Muffle spell from any court wizard, and spam it anytime you like, it works great with your sneaky character, and advances the illusion skill like a breeze.

Don't spread mis-information. You're wrong here, sorry to say. I just checked again to make sure 1.3 didn't fix it, and it's still the same.

Naked:

Iron Dagger - 12 Damage.
Iron Sword - 21 Damage.

Iron Dagger (Legendary) - 85 Damage.
Iron Sword (Legendary) - 94 Damage.

Full Gear on, enchanted with Fortify One-Handed Damage 47% x 4 = 188%

Iron Dagger - 12 damage.
Iron Sword - 60 damage.

Iron Dagger (Legendary) - 85 damage.
Iron Sword (Legendary) - 271 damage.

Try it yourself.

WRONG. Please do not post misleading info. One hand-enhancements on armor do NOT affect daggers.

They should have.

It is logical to assume that a one handed enchantment should affect dagger damage, and not all the players would search the internet to see if it would affect the damage or not, and one would assume that it should.

I for one always wasted some armor enchantment slots for one handed damage, for my assassin style characters which would wield daggers, till now.

Too bad.
