So I got this quest in solitude, it tells me to talk to Aldis about her daughter, which points me to the courtyard of the temple( I think ) in solitude. However there is a white character/objective arrow( indicating the objective is outside ) directly on the ground....but no aldis. Anyone else got this glitch?

Weird. Captain Aldis was in Castle Dour (the Imperial garrison) for me. I don't think I ever saw him outside of that area.

Is that the castle that requires a key to get into?

No, it's just the Imperial garrison on the opposite end of the path from the Blue Palace.

Ok so someone clarified for me that choosing the SC and finishing the civil war quest BREAKS and bugs this quest .

man thats a bummer, Ive already sided with the SC and done the battle for solitude, Id have to delete half my game to get to a save point before joining them. That really svcks /sigh ... hits delete button . Wish I had known to save the battle for last when I started pllayin.
