Hello! I just thought I would bring this topic up for some help- whenever I rest/wait in the wild (not in a bed), when I wake up, at least two "hired thugs" ambush me from where I camped out, and most of the time kill me. It's happened each time I've slept in the wild. I would just like to know if there is a way I could find who wants me dead, and what I can do? Thanks in advance!

Take the note from their bodies and read it. Then find whoever sent them and dead thrall them, atleast, if you're like me.

If you kill them, you can loot a letter telling you who hired them.

They're hired when you get caught stealing from somebody.

If you manage to kill them perhaps they will bear a contract mentionning why they are after you.
If you stole something (even undetected), or killed some NPC you have hired thugs sent after you. You may also be hunted by Thalmors or by assassins from the dark brotherhood. They are random encounters
Generally, they have a note in their inventory. Of course, if they succeed in killing you you can't find it....
If you can't manage the fight recruit a companion or don't steal. I can't tell you more.

Yeah, if you kill them you can loot them. They have a note from the person that wants you dead. (Usually its from people you stole something from etc)
