How do you acquire soul gems faster?

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 11:30 pm

Instead of having to sit there and buy up the Wizard in Dragonsreach, then the one in Markarth.. what's a quicker way? Or is there even one? I'm trying to level enchanting but it's taking forever.

Indeed, the dwarven spheres and spiders generally have a lot of them, a good 70-80% drop rate on every corpse.

I have 50 lbs worth of soul gems alone. What are you talking about? But yeah, try Dwemer ruins.

Edit: typos

That defeats the purpose here. I am trying to get them *faster*. Buying them, saving, restarting game is quicker.

If you want to avoid this you could fast travel between Markath and Riften. The roundtrip is long enough for the shops to refill.

There is a location where you can actually mine them. I've never done it myself, but it might be worth a look.

Lol really? I didn't think fast traveling to Whiterun, buying, then to Markarth, buying, then BACK to Markarth wouldn't be long enough.

Or just fast travel round all cities, that'd get you plenty. It's not just the Jarl's wizards that have them regular traders do to.

You should check other merchants for them. Buy the empty ones too, and make a weapon of your choice with the soul trap spell on it.

At least three of the merchants in whiterun alone has soul gems most of the time. Make sure you take all you find in the dungeons and ruins they add up fast. You'll likely run out of stuff to enchant before running out of soul gems by the time you've maxed the skill.

I used the petty soul gems for building the skill and saved the grand soul gems for my personal gear.

I just hope you're not going to be back in this forum in a few days complaining about how 'easy' it was to powerlevel enchanting and how overpowered and stupid the system is...

Your main concern might be not having enough gold. Your return on investment will go up by taking advantage of readily available gear.

Join the theives guild for the armor. A piece helps with bartering.
Receive the blessings of Zenerith outside of Riften or at the Chapel of Divines in Solitude. But if you find the shrine near Riften first, you can grab a helpful amulet.

This will assist you more than you know. As far as speeding up things, deal with it. You're gonna have to do something like 400 enchants to max out enchanting. It's gonna take some time.

What type of character are you playing? If you're physical, go kill some skeletons with a weapon that has a 1 sec soul trap. I went through a couple of caves and filled up all of the soul gems i'd gathered over 35 levels in no time. It's a lot easier to find/buy empty soul gems than filled ones.

Dwemer ruins are loadeed with them. Buy them from court wizards, and wait three days and buy some more.

Only the Wizard in Whiterun along with Belethor or whatever dude's name is from what I can see has them in Whiterun.

Gold is the last thing I need to be real honest. I got more than there is to spend it on.

If you got the gold you could make a roundtrip affair from Riften, whiterun, Markarth, Solitude, College Of Winterhold, Windhelm and back to Riften. Dwemer ruins also have soul gems, although not Grand though as they are random drops from chests or Centurions.
