How do you tell what spells you already have while you're sh

When you are shopping for spells, is there any kind of indicator (that I am obviously not seeing) to tell you that you have already learned a certain spell so you won't waste money buying it again? I have to be missing something because there is no way Beth would have overlooked this.

A question we'd all like answered, currently there is no way but I think the complaint has come up enough times that Bethesda will be aware of it, so I'd expect we might get something in Jan after most of the engine issues are fixed.

Cant you just go to the magic menu and look at what spells you have? Or if you hvent read the tome yet you could look under your books.

Don't you see? Bethesda solved this tricky spell-buying conundrum by cutting the number of spells in the game to such a low number that it's simple enough to just remember which spells you know.

Memorize every spell you have. We really shouldn't have to do that in a game released in 2011.
