player.additem F 1000000

If that is too much cheating, go to your local tavern and ask the barmaid for work, and she will give you a bounty to go kill bandits somewhere.

Kill the bandits, than loot the place dry, crawl back to town and go around the merchants and sell it all. Than go collect the bounty.

My best early gold farm is the Dragon Reach dinner set up. Clear both tables, the kitchen, and anything not nailed that doesn't say "steal" on it. Depending on your speech, you could collect 500 g or so off those tables and the kitchen.

Another decently fast way is to clear the Lunar Forge, east of Whiterun, of the bandits. Decent gold on the bandits themselves, and there are some higher priced weapons and ingots up at the forge to collect, plus whatever you find int he chest.

Also, the sleeping tree camp cave has a decent amount of gold/valuable items in a cave. You have to kill a giant in there, so be careful, but it's worth it....

Pssssst... You can remove any leading zeroes from item codes. Typing player.additem f x works just as well.

Smithing some weapons on the lunar forge gives them the lunar enchantment for free.
The real money makers are alchemy and enchanting, find or buy ingredients, make potions with fortify effect as they pay well.

Enchanting is even easier but also cost more, disenchant something with turn undead or absorb health then enchant junk weapons with it. you need to buy lesser or petty soulgems and fill them with soultrap so you want that as an enchant to.

I use dungeon crawls and enchanting. First, you need a bunch of empty soul gems (which you can generally get in dungeons). Also you need a weapon with the soul trap enchant (mages can do it with a spell).

Make sure you have whatever quests for a given dungeon so you get THAT reward.... Clear the dungeon, head for Whiterun or wherever you prefer, sell everything BUT the weapons/armor/clothes; hit Dragonsreach, use the Arcane Enchanter to put the highest value enchant on every weapon (first) and armor/clothing (if you have enough soul gems) that you can. Then sell all of those you don't want to equip.

Alchemy is the cheapest, but there are only a few potions that really pay off. You want potions with at least three effects and that are worth at least a few hundred gold. There are one or two combinations that are easy from the beginning. One I used was Blue Butterfly Wing, Blue Mountain Flower, and Butterfly Wing. Note that two of these endlessly respawn. Making those potions will crank Alchemy up very fast and each is worth at least a few hundred gold (and once Alch is higher, they will be worth between 1,000-2,000 gold).

I joined the Thieves Guild and did all their quests. Didn't spend money if I didn't have to.
I joined the DB and did all their quests. Didn't spend money if I didn't have to.
I joined the Companions and did all their quests. Didn't spend money if I didn't have to.
I joined the COW and did all their quests. Didn't spend money if I didn't have to.

Then I looked at my money and had 300,000+ gold. It took over 100 hours though. If you want gold quick then use the console commands that people posted, but you may find yourself bored quick with having easily attained wealth. So you buy lots of stuff then what? Atleast if you earn the gold the hard way then you may feel like you earned it. Up to you though, it's your choice.

No kidding.... I have so much gold rolling around all my toons, it's just unreal. After you buy and improve all the houses, then what? There's NOWHERE TO SPEND IT.

Well, then. No cheating it in. Use alchemy/enchanting then. Good luck, and have fun on those dungeon crawls!

if u have pelts and petty or common soul gems here what I usually do:
1- I make leather and leather strips at the forge
2- make some leather braces
3- go to an enchanting table and enchant them with crappy effects (doesn't matter much)
they usually get a value around 200 gold or something and you can transport and sell lots of them, plus u will raise both smithing and enchanting.

Here is a way, but you need some money to start with -

Go to the Fletcher in Solitude, he may have a bow in stock with an enchantment that banishes Daedra (if he doesn't have it, wait until his stock resets). It is expensive (can easily cost 6,000 gold), but once you disenchant it, you can use the enchantment on anything to make lots of money. Take an Iron Dagger, for example, and enchant it, so the value increases to around a 1,000 gold. Sell it, and if you do this enough you can make tons of money, and level your Smithing and Enchanting in the proces. Best used in combination with a weapon with the Soul Trap enchantment, so you can get a lot of filled soul gems. Good luck!
