2 Random Questions

So... two random things I am curious about/can't figure out.

1. On my Bosmer character, I just made my way, for the first time, 100 hours in (or more) to Falkreath. Never been near there yet. I cleared a nearby barrow, killing a couple vamps and skeletons, in search of a staff for one of the Mage College sidequests, but otherwise, have not even been in this area. So I go down the hill to Falkreath and the guard comes up and says he knows me, and that I owe a fine. I have a speech necklace on, so I talked him out of it, but when I checked my stats, sure enough it says I have a 40 gold bounty in Falkreath. I just don't understand how. :(

2. I put the user map marker on my map, using M1. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove it. Anyone know? Doofy I know, but I haven't seen any info on how to get rid of it.

#1 - No clue, Ley.... I avoid Falkreath like the plague....

#2 - Click anywhere else on the map, answer the dialog which pops with "remove".

Oh, my, god, that is Not Good, man, NOT GOOD. I'm waiting for an answer on this also.
How did you know the Bounty is in Falkreath, though? Mine just says Largest Bounty & Total Lifetime Bounty.

1) A dragon attacked Falkreath once and I accidently hit a NPC that went right between me and the dragon, and the guards when nuts on me. Did something similar happen in Falkreath or the Hold it is in?

2) Same as Serethil's post.

Because bounties only apply within the hold in which you incurred them. If you picked up 40 bounty in Falkreath Hold, for example, nobody in any of the other holds would know about it much less care.

Yeah, but how do you know that the 40 Bounty displaying on your Crime Log is from Falkreath. It could be from other cities you don't know about.

1. Very easy. The map is divided into regions and each region has a capitol and maybe some other holds that falls under it. Crimes committed outside holds (wilderness) will give you a bounty for the area you are in which means any guard from any hold in that region will react to your crime once they see you.

That barrow is included in a quest, and an NPC essential to that quest makes her home there. She is also however, a citizen of Falkreath. Could it be possible that you accidentily hit her? Or even better, that you thought she was an enemy, killed her, walked out? Normally you would get a 'lost witness' message, but she is, sadly, essential. Thus you gain 40 bounty.

If you bring up your journal, then click General Stats, then Crime, it lists bounties. Mine distinctly notes Falkreath Bounty at 40.

Right, I know that. The thing is, I had not been anywhere near Falkreath my entire game thus far. I walked there from Riverwood or River Run or whatever the town is called, killed nothing but a dragon and some wolves and a Fire Atronach on the way to the nearby barrow, cleaned out the barrow like normal, did not encounter anything other than skeletons and two vampires, which I killed - got no message that I noticed about killing a witness, although perhaps that is what happened? It was all pretty straightforward though. Weirdness. It's only 40 gold and my speech is high enough that I can sort of blow off the guards and they leave me alone.

I killed two vampire thralls and a master vampire there. Those were the only "live" people I saw. The rest were draugr and skeletons. The vamps died as normal. So, yeah, weirdness. Not really hindering my game any, just strange.

thanks for the info on the map thing, I will try it when next I log in. It is irritating to have the map pointer there permanently.

I think it might be because Helgen is part of Falkreath and as that is where the game starts of it's possible that in the ensuing chaos you stepped on somebody's toes. :D

Wow. I suppose. But if so, it was still worth killing that Imperial female commander who wanted to chop my head off anyway. Muahahaha.

Who can understand the law in Skyrim? You can steal the clothes off a man's wife in broad daylight in the middle of town and nobody will even look at you funny. But kick a chicken in the head and the whole town is in up in arms and will gladly murder you for it. It's a strange strange world we live in master Jack. ;)
