Best tanking follower at Master level?

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 4:05 am

This thread will be spoiler of course.

Vorstag? Is he it? I am playing a second time trying to min/max my destruction damage by keeping my level low. Is anyone better at tanking than Vorstag? Heavy armor, health, one-handed and block would seem critical skills. Eventually, if you get conjuration and double dremoras, then it is less of a concern.

thanks

Mjoll is two handed, heavy armor specialist and apparently is immortal. Vilkas is alright, but you have to join the companions, and he tends to rush too much. I know a tank is supposed to rush to some degree, but he tries to take on 8 at once. Also, he has yet to turn wolf during battle except the cut-scene with the silver-hand, so I went back to Mjoll...

Yeah, I like Mjoll too... but my gawd, she won't SHUT UP. Like, I'm talking serious business with people and she's in the back, talking about her mother, AGAIN.

I gotta say, the mage from Riften's bar is much more awesome, mostly because he doesn't talk so much. So is Jenassa from Whiterun, though, she's not master level.

Are there any comparison charts out there? I'm not finding one.

I'm using Calder - he seems to be holding up OK while I level up my magic skills...

since the followers don't level..i think most of em are at their max level around level 25...so i wait till level 25 to get my favorite followers...and then i just give em enchanted gear..double enchanted everything...i give em more health, stamina, magic if they need it, fortification items etc...and they do fine...heck i even use aela and i find her initially outside of whiterun so she isn't very leveled up but i've used her at level 55 or so and she does fine actually....but i give her 200 extra health and stamina and i also give her a frost antronach staff and she uses that too so she doens't die really..she kicks a## still...but like i said if you wait till level 25 or 30 they're fairly leveld up and with better items they do fine.

If the chart is accurate, then J'zargo looks pretty cool, except for no blocking. Maybe he'd dual wield absorb health swords to make up for it.

Housecarls are the best IMO. Give them Shield of Solitude or Shield of Ysgramor, perhaps a ring and necklace with some magic resistance (Or enchant the whole set if you can) and they will be unkillable. At 50 level. they have 100 Heavy Armor and Block and 671 HP.

Playing at Master level difficulty, Lydia simply does not stand a chance. Maybe you mean a different housecarl? Also, I won't be going to 50 since I'm a mage. Looking at her stats on the chart though, this doesn't make sense. Maybe their skills progress differently for each character. But I can tell you her stats when checked with the console (getav) were far inferior to Vostag at mid levels.

Mjoll the Lioness is still the best follower I've found for my play-style. Fast, smart, a beast with heavy armor and two-handed weapons, and most importantly - immortal. So, if she happens to run in front of you while you're in mid-hammer-swing or something, she's not gonna get herself perished (like Lydia had a maddening tendency to do).

In fact, I liked it so much, I put a ring on it.

Same here. Don't forget to give her a good bow. She will use it, and she is good with it. Also, take away all her arrows, and give a her a couple of Deadric ones. You can farm them off of the bodies of the people she kills.
