Why is it so easy becoming "The Boss"?

completely agree. THis is also a result of there only going on quest "hub" for each faction. This means you can go straight between quests in a "rush" which isn't really a rush, but merely the natural progression through the quests. If oblivion did something right, it was, like morrowind, have us go around to different areas, and in that way encounter other quests and tasks on our way. Here it's "go do x and come back" till you're suddenly the leader after 5-6 quests (or what feels like it).

I've said this before, but I'm really disapointed with Skyrims guild, the pacing is horrible.

Is this what it takes to sell a game now, instant gratification?!

This is what it takes to sell anything these days. Thank the internet.

Likewise I would have made Aela the new Harbinger rather than taken the job myself.
Same here. That was not to be though; I read Kodlak's journal.
Spoiler
Thanks to a dream he had, you were chosen before you even showed up. Convenient, yes?

Now that I have the job though, it'd be nice if someone would tell me what a Harbinger does. They won't though. Instead they hand me the same sort of jobs I had to do to prove myself in the first place. If I'm the gorram Harbinger, why am I the one getting sent out to beat up and intimidate people (and why are those people always women)?

Its probably a strawmen scheme.
In the first Expansion we will find out that the Guilds are highly in debth with the Silver Bloods and all our property is confiscated.
We end up on a slave Island as a...Tada...Prisioner and have to get Boss there to.

This is one of the most annoying things about Skyrim. I liked Oblivion where you do a bunch of quests for the guild and occasionally go on an important mission and eventually become important. It takes you out of the immersion of the game when you complete, like, five quests, haven't met any of the members of the guild or done anything overly important and are suddenly the top dog. If Bethesda adds any new guilds in future DLC they need to make progression through the guild a little more realistic.

I think one of the dumbest thing is, i just got into the thieves guild and nearly everyone is saying "oooh me is impressed with you skills, don't tell anyone i said that ya?"
When all you did was to do some lockpickings and a pickpocket. :glare: they really skimped on the guild questlines this time.

Even better for the companions. Do some fetching quests, do 1 large quest, and poof you're in the circle of the companions. Wow.

If only people got promoted that fast at work.
