Does Shadowmere disapear or can I get him again if I get Frost? I'd like to try Frost, but don't wish to lose Shadowmere. I'm thinking shadowmere will go back to the black pool outside of the original db sanctuary but don't know for sure.

Which horse do people generally prefer?

In Oblivion you could have more than one horse. Just save and test. I don't have the nice black horse yet.

I prefer Shadowmere because Frost is an idiot and got itself killed when it tried to pretend that it was stronger than a spriggan.

Shadowmere has survived the last 8 dragons that attacked me why would you want a different horse? The stupid lizards always go for Shadowmere first which lets my lightly armored Khajiit pepper it with arrows in relative safety

I preferred Frost, but she just disapeared. So I had to do the DB quest to get Shadowmere. Hell Frost was annoying in combat compared to Shadowmere. Anyway when is Beth going to let us Cavalry as well as infantry? I hate the prospect of getting off a horse back just to face a pack of wolves.

Frost is a horse you have to steal for some one in the quest Promises to Keep. You can get the quest from Louis Letrush from Bee 8 Barb in Riften. At the end of the quest you have the option to keep it or give it as promised. Either way it has no bearing on bounties.

I thought frost was just an ordinary horse with a name. Shadowmere is a beast
