No split-screen?!?

Looking through the other topic lists, this is the second most viewed topic and the one with the most replies. Things aren't likely to change any time soon, but that is a fair indication of how a large part of those interested in the game perceive the importance of split screen.

Yep Arrow_slayer.

This company will DEFINITELY cost themselves some sales by not having any split screen support. Utter madness in a game designed to be two player co-op from the start.

They basically said have better graphics/textures etc is the reason for this.

At the end of the day this isn't likely to be a HUGE game anyway from a sales POV. It will never have the sales of say a call of duty game, halo or GTA IV etc

They then limit the people who will buy this further by not including an option which alot of people would consider essential.

Killzone 3 also is supposed to have great graphics BUT that still manages split screen support. I know that is a FPS but they are talking about graphics/textures being the reason for lack of split screen.

Personally I say they should re-think and LISTEN to their potential customers and if necessary delay the game and give it a split screen option, it needs one badly.

If they need to make the game have less textures or slightly lower frame rate (within reason) so it can run a split screen then so be it BUT make sure it is done well and not just tacked on as a late addition.

Most people who look at this game would think it has split screen co-op. If they get home and it doesn't I could imagine a good number of people returning it next day.

You guys should check what SONY is brinign , 2PLAYERS, SAME ROOM,SAME TV, NO SPLIT SCREEN REQUIRED. Now that is innovation

Sony has shwon off its dual view 3D mode for the PS3 console. During a London showing, a director for SCEE revealed the feature that will allow gamers to play against each other in the same room on the same TV without having to go split screen.

Sony is looking to introduce a dual-view 3D mode for its PlayStation 3 console, that would allow gamers to play against each other in the same room on the same TV without having to play split screen.

Demoed by Mick Hocking, senior director for SCEE and director of World Wide Studio’s 3D Stereoscopic Team, to a select few (including many shocked Sony execs) in London, Hocking detailed how in the near future gamers will be able to play against each other in the same room on the same console on the same TV, without seeing what the other person is doing thanks to advances in 3D technology.

Pocket-lint was treated to the demo of the recently released Killzone 3, showed us first hand that what you see is dependent on where you sit in your living room (gaming room).

“This will hurt your eyes,” warned Hocking, before proceeding to play the video clip of the new gaming mode on the Sony exclusive title; explaining that we should only watch it with one eye open (swapping eyes to get the different effect) as we wouldn’t be sitting in the right place.

The technology works in a similar way to Jaguar’s spilt screen television on its dashboard that displays television to the passenger in the car and a map to the driver, but in this case to gamers at home.

Player one will see his movements full screen, while player 2 will see his - i.e., something completely different explained Hocking on the technology that could revolutionise gaming at home, on your TV.

Sitting directly in front of the television (in our case a 55-inch Sony BRAVIA no less) meant we saw both images (unless we did the eye trick) - something that we wouldn’t recommend.

Unfortunately, there’s no word on when the new feature will be available. Our attempts to photograph the new tech clearly didn't work, but the mere fact that Sony has shown it working on a game that is already available (albeit just 3 days at time of writing) has got to be a positive thing.

I'm not sure if requiring a 3D TV is actually cheaper than requiring two TVs and two consoles :)

But I will admit that is pretty cool even though I doubt I'll have ever a 3D TV.

That is very awesome.

I dont like split screen, and at the same time I want to sit beside by friends/girlfriend while playing a game. This new TV/feature business is very very awesome.

Also, if a game is good, customers won't mind buying multiple copies to play with each other. I know I wouldn't.

The only issue with not being split screen is lag.

Now that split screen has been announced let's continue this discussion http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1170582-great-news-2-player-split-screen-will-be-included/.
